Rain ruins play at Delray Beach

28 February 2013 05:25

The Delray Beach International Tennis Championships has been forced to call off Wednesday's action due to rain.

Persistent showers in Florida meant only one match saw any action with two-time champion Xavier Malisse beginning his second-round encounter with Spanish qualifier Daniel Munoz-De La Nava.

The match was prematurely halted at 2-2 in the first set with Munoz-De La Nava set to serve to Malisse, the Belgian eighth seed, when it should resume on Thursday.

Wednesday's rain meant two other second-round matches at the ATP 250 event were postponed with German second seed Tommy Haas set to take on Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin, while third-seeded American Sam Querrey will play Latvia's Ernests Gulbis.
