Wozniacki causes stir over Serena impersonation

11 December 2012 19:24

Caroline Wozniacki has raised the ire of some tennis fans for impersonating rival Serena Williams in Brazil.

In an exhibition match against Maria Sharapova, the Dane - who is well-known for her quirky sense of humour - stuffed towels down her top and up her skirt in a bid to replicate the body shape of Williams.

She then imitated Williams' grunts in a point against Sharapova with the crowd in Sao Paulo laughing at the 22-year-old's impersonations.

Williams is yet to publically comment on the issue but several bloggers have accused Wozniacki of racism over the stunt.

Impersonating other professionals has previously been done by men's star Novak Djokovic, who has sent tennis crowds into fits of laughter over the years with his imitations of the likes of Sharapova, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

Federer was in the crowd for Wozniacki's stunt.
