Format:

14 teams, each plays the others twice - home and away - for a total of 26 games each, over 26 game weeks.



Scoring points:

3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss.



Table order:

1. points won; 2. total goal difference; 3. total goals scored; 4. points in head-to-head matches; 5. goal difference in hth matches; 6. goals scored in hth matches; 7. fairplay ranking; 8. draw.



Qualification for UEFA competitions:

1 place: 2016/2017 UEFA Champions League Group stage

2 place: 2016/2017 UEFA Champions League qualifiers

3-4 place: 2016/2017 UEFA Europa League qualifiers

5 place: possible 2016/2017 UEFA Europa League qualifiers (depends on Cup outcome)



Relegation from the league:

14 place: relegated to 2016/2017 Persha Liga



Promotion to the league:

1 team from 2015/2016 Persha Liga

Changes before the season:

On 10 July Metalurh Donetsk, 10th last season; declares bankruptcy and withdraws.

On 14 July the Executive committee of the FFU chooses to replace them with Stal Dniprodzerzhynsk, 2nd in Persha Liga last season and initially withdrawn from the group, after announced plans for a merger between them and Metalurh Donetsk. That choice is made after a vote between the members, choosing either Stal or Illichivets', 14th last season and relegated.
