Regular Season:

Format:

12 teams, each plays the others twice - home and away - for a total of 22 games each, over 22 game weeks.



Scoring points:

3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss.



Table order:

1. points won; 2. total goal difference; 3. total goals scored; 4. games won; 5. play-off.



Qualification for Championship Group:

1-6 place: enter Championship Group



Qualification for Relegation Group:

7-12 place: enter Relegation Group



Changes from last season:

Cefn Druids and Prestatyn Town relegated to Feeder Leagues

Llandudno and Caerau (Ely) promoted from Feeder Leagues



Changes before the season:

Caerau (Ely), 1st in Welsh League Division 1 last season and due to be promoted; does not receive a license for the Premier League.

As a result Haverfordwest County, 2nd in the Welsh League Division 1 last season; is additionally promoted.





Championship Group:

Format:

6 teams from the Regular Season contest the 2015/2016 Premier League champion and places in the 2016/2017 UEFA Champions League and 2016/2017 UEFA Europa League in a league format.

Each team plays the others twice - home and away - for a total of 10 games each, over 10 game weeks.

Teams keep their entire Regular Season record going into the Championship Group.

The Championship Group winner is the 2015/2016 Premier League champion.



Scoring points:

3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss.



Table order:

1. points won; 2. total goal difference; 3. total goals scored; 4. games won; 5. play-off.



Qualification for UEFA competitions:

1 place: 2016/2017 UEFA Champions League qualifiers

2 place: 2016/2017 UEFA Europa League qualifiers



Qualification for UEFA Europa League Play-off:

3-6 place: enter UEFA Europa League Play-off

* - if any of the teams, placed 3-7th, qualifies for the UEFA Europa League through the Welsh Cup, then it doesn't participate in the UEFA Europa League Play-off, and only 4 teams enter the play-off.

* - of the 2nd placed team qualifies for the UEFA Europa League through the Welsh Cup, then the 3rd placed team also qualifies for the UEFA Europa League and the four teams, placed 4th-7th enter the play-off.





Relegation Group:

Format:

6 teams from the Regular Season contest against relegation in a league format.

Each team plays the others twice - home and away - for a total of 10 games each, over 10 game weeks.

Teams keep their entire Regular Season record going into the Relegation Group.

The winner of the Relegation Group finishes 7th in the Overall season standings, the second placed team - 8th, and so on, with the last placed team in the Relegation Group being 12th.



Scoring points:

3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss.



Table order:

Qualification for UEFA Europa League Play-off:

7 place: enters UEFA Europa League Play-off

UEFA Europa League Play-off:

Format:

5 teams contest a place in the 2016/2017 UEFA Europa League in a knockout format.

Teams are ranked 1st to 5th, based on their Overall season standings ranking order.

The teams ranked 1st-3rd enter the competition directly at the Semi-finals.

If there are only 4 teams participating in the play-off, then no quarter-final is played.



Quarter-final:

Teams are paired according to their ranking:

4th vs 5th.

Winner is decided over one leg, with extra time and penalties if score is level after regular time.

The 4th ranked team is host.



Semi-finals:

Teams are paired according to their ranking:

1st vs winner of the Quarter-final;

2nd vs 3rd.

Winners are decided over one leg, with extra time and penalties if score is level after regular time.

The higher ranked teams are hosts.



Final:

The two Semi-finals winners meet each other.

Winner is decided over one leg, with extra time and penalties if score is level after regular time.

The higher ranked team is host.
