14 teams, each plays the others twice - home and away - for a total of 26 games each, over 26 game weeks.



Scoring points:

3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss.



Table order:

1. points won; 2. points in head-to-head matches; 3. goal difference in hth matches; 4. goals scored in hth matches; 5. total goal difference; 6. total goals scored; 7. play-off.



Qualification for Championship Round:

1-6 place: enter Championship Round



Qualification for Relegation Round:

7-14 place: enter Relegation Round

Championship Round:

Format:

6 teams from the Regular Season contest the 2015/2016 Liga I champion and places in the 2016/2017 UEFA Champions League and 2016/2017 UEFA Europa League in a league format.

Each team plays the others twice - home and away - for a total of 10 games each, over 10 game weeks.

Teams start the Championship Round with their points from the Regular Season halved, rounded downwards, and no other records carried over from the Regular Season.

The Championship Group winner is the 2015/2016 Liga I champion.



Scoring points:

3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss.



Table order:

1. points won; 2. total goal difference; 3. total goals scored; 4. games won; 5. play-off.



Qualification for UEFA competitions:

1-2 place: 2016/2017 UEFA Champions League qualifiers

3-4 place: 2016/2017 UEFA Europa League qualifiers

5 place: possible 2016/2017 UEFA Europa League qualifiers (depends on Cupa României outcome)





Relegation Round:

------------



Format:

8 teams from the Regular Season contest against relegation in a league format.

Each team plays the others twice - home and away - for a total of 14 games each, over 14 game weeks.

Teams start the Relegation Round with their points from the Regular Season halved, rounded downwards, and no other records carried over from the Regular Season.

The winner of the Relegation Round finishes 7th in the Overall season standings, the second placed team - 8th, and so on, with the last placed team in the Relegation Group being 14th.



Scoring points:

3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss.



Table order:

1. points won; 2. total goal difference; 3. total goals scored; 4. games won; 5. play-off.



Relegation from the league:

12 place: enters Play-offs 1/2 with one Liga II team for 1 places in 2016/2017 Liga I

13-14 place: relegated to 2016/2017 Liga II



Promotion to the league:

2 teams from 2015/2016 Liga II

1 more team from 2015/2016 Liga II possible to promote through Play-offs 1/2



Minimum points requirement:

Each relegated team must have at least 15 points gathered from the Relegation Round alone at the end of the season.

If it fails to achieve that minimum, then the team starts the next season in Liga II with a point deduction equal to the difference between the required minimum and the actual points gained in the Relegation Round.

(Example: if a team is relegated with 12 points won from the Relegation Round, then it starts its 2016/2017 season in Liga II with -3 points.)
