Minute   Description
That's all for tonight. Goodbye.
The result means Schalke are still two points behind Porto, who beat Lokomotiv Moscow 4-1, in Group D, and it looks like those two sides will be the ones to progress to the next round. With two games to go, Galatasaray certainly aren’t out of it, but they realistically need to win both of their remaining fixtures if their want to avoid the Europa League.
90'+3 FULL-TIME: Schalke 2-0 Galatasaray.
90' There is going to be three minutes of injury time.
89' Sane lifts a ball over the Galatasaray defence to McKennie on the right. He looks up to find a cross but it is blocked by Aziz and the ball goes out for a throw.
88' There was no injury time in the first half, will there be any in the second? All eyes are on the fourth official.
84' Celik is the latest player to go into the referee’s book. He closes down Sane and catches the Schalke defender’s ankle as he passes the ball away.
81' Aziz competes for the ball with a sliding challenge on Embolo who goes down screaming. It is a Schalke free-kick and Aziz gets a yellow card.
79' Schalke win a corner which is taken left-footed by Bentaleb. It is easily headed clear at the near post by Galatasaray.
78' Galatasaray are like a different side in this second half. They haven't troubled Nubel at all in the Schalke goal and still haven't managed a shot on target.
76' Rudy, who is on a yellow card and therefore is being protected a bit here by his manager, is replaced in midfield by Serdar.
Caligiuri beats the offside trap set by Galatasaray and finds space on the right on the pitch. He gets his head up and sends an early ball fizzing across the box toward Embolo. Musiera is there to collect the cross.
72' It's not going well at all for Galatasaray, with some lack of discipline now. Donk goes into the book for a late challenge.
A last throw of the dice for Galatasaray here with some fresh legs up front. Gümüş comes off an on comes Celik.
71' A lovely turn from Burgstaller sees him find himself in acres of space and able to run at the heart of the Galatasaray defence. He passes to the right to the oncoming Calgiuri, and demands the return ball, but it is cut out.
67' Schalke are starting to control this game now, keeping the ball well in midfield and running rings around Galatasaray in the middle of the pitch.
66' McKennie gets into the game for the first time, he receives the ball in the middle of the Galatasaray half and passes to his right to the oncoming Caligiuri who has his first shot of the match from distance. He can’t keep it down though and Musiera watches it go over his bar.
64' Uth has gone down clutching his knee and he will need to be substituted. Former Spurs player Bentaleb is the man who replaces him.
63' Rodrigues, who has been very quiet tonight for Galatasaray, comes off and on comes İnan.
59' Galatasaray immediately start to show a lot more urgency on the ball as they look to get back into this game.
57' A great turn of pace from Burgstaller got him to the goal-line and he calmly found his teammate on the edge of the area.
ITS 2-0!! Schalke take a tighter grip on the game. Burgstaller again breaks down the right for the home side, takes the ball to the byline and cuts back a cross to the edge of the area where Uth is waiting to sweep home a left-footed shot to the right of Musiera’s goal.
56' And here is Schalke’s first substitution of the game. USA international McKennie replaces Harit.
55' Stambouli goes to win the ball from Rodrigues, but misses completely and the referee decides the foul is worthy of a booking.
54' One too many fouls for Rudy. He slides in late on Belhanda and is shown the yellow card.
52' Schalke look like they are going to make a change now.
51' Rodrigues takes it, but he smacks it straight into the centre of Schalke’s five-man wall.
50' Gumus sprints at Sane in the Schalke defence and Sane brings down his man 25 yards from goal. Galatasaray have a chance from this free-kick now.
48' A back three for Galatasaray in this second half after that substitution, they’ll be hoping it shores up their defence after being stretched all over the place before the break.
46' The referee blows his whistle and the second half gets underway.
Bayram replaces Linnes at half time for Galatasaray, who it looks like will be going to three at the back now.
You definitely get the feeling that there are more goals in this game, especially if the Galatasaray front three get their act together. Both sides look threatening on the counter-attack with the pace of Onyekuru showing glimpses of promise for the away side while Burgstaller always looking a menace for the hosts. With Porto looking like they will beat Lokomotiv tonight, both Schalke and Galatasaray will be keen to get the three points.
What a half of football that was! It’s been an extremely open 45 minutes of football in Gelsenkirchen with plenty of end-to-end action but only Schalke have anything to show for it. Burgstaller took his goal well after just four minutes, but Musiera’s will be kicking himself at half-time for allowing the forward the chance in the first place. It’s been pretty even so far and the only surprise is that, with 12 shots, we’ve only seen one goal.
45' HALF-TIME: Schalke 1-0 Galatasaray.
42' Ndiaye is robbed off the ball in the centre circle by Uth. He sprints away from Ndiaye and toward Kabak. But the Galatasaray defender sticks out a strong leg and stops Uth in his tracks.
36' Stambouli and Calgiuri have such a good understanding on the Schalke right. They’re giving Linnes a real tough time tonight, and when Burgstaller drifts over to that wing as well, Galatasaray are completely overrun.
34' Two fouls in two minutes there from Ndiaye. This time he hacks down Embolo near centre circle.
32' Ndiaye fouls Embolo to the left of the Galatasaray area which gives Rudy the chance to swing in a free-kick into the box. That is poor though, sailing way over everyone and out for a goal-kick.
28' Some great end-to-end action now! Galatasaray commit too many men forward which allows Burgstaller to break free and almost set-up Schopf to double their lead. Then in the blink of an eye, Galatasaray are in the Schalke box with Rodrigues bearing down on goal, but his left-footed shot is high and wide.
26' Galatasaray’s front three have offered very little so far in this game. Onyekuru has made a couple of good runs, but Gumus and Rodrigues have been extremely quiet.
24' Gumus has his first shot of the game, moving well down the left and shooting across Nubel’s goal toward the bottom-right corner from 15 yards out. Nubel dives well to his left to save the shot.
20' Ndiaye now fancies having a shot for Galatasaray. He controls the ball in midfielder, looks up and shoots from 30 yards out. It never, ever looks like troubling Nubel in the Schalke goal though.
18' CHANCE! Galatasaray break with Belhanda who slots Onyekuru in behind Nastasic. As he runs onto the pass, Nubel sprints out of his area and snuffs out the chance by diving at Onyekuru’s feet.
16' Most of Schalke’s attacks are coming down the right and Caliguiri starts the next one. He finds Burgstaller who has made a good run to the byline, he controls and tries to find Caliguiri with a reverse pass but it is not quite on the money.
14' Galatasaray are keeping their 4-3-3 formation nice and compact in the first 15 minutes. Schalke are trying to go wide as often as they can to get around them, but it’s not quite working.
12' Belhanda tries to get Galatasaray going; he picks up the ball in midfield, takes it forward and sends a pass toward Onyekuru who’s running into the Schalke box. Nastasic is there to cut out the ball and clear the danger.
10' Caligiuri and Stambouli work the wall well on the right, exchanging some nice passes around Linnes in the Schalke defence, but Caligiuri is caught offside with the last pass.
8' Schalke try to get some control on the game by passing it around the bak, but Sane’s pass to Stambouli is off the mark and it goes out for a throw.
6' The Galatasaray fans react by singing even louder now!
4' GOAL! WHAT A START FOR SCHALKE! Musiera sprints out of his area with a sliding challenge on Burgstaller on the left of the area. But he can’t keep hold if the ball and it breaks for the striker, who pivots nicely and passes it into the net from a tight angle and makes it 1-0. The keeper has had a shocker there.
3' A fairly quiet start, with Galatasaray enjoying most of the possession, but you wouldn’t think that by the noise from the crowd! Both sets of fans are making a real racket!
1' The referee blows his whistle and we are underway!
The teams are out on the pitch, which means kick-off here in Gelsenkirchen is just moments away.
Just a point may separate Schalke and Galatasaray in the Champions League group, but their domestic form couldn’t be more different. Schalke are 14th in Bundesliga having won just three games all season; Galatasaray are second in the Turkish Super Lig and have only lost three times.
