Minute   Description
That will do it for our coverage of this Premier League match between Newcastle United and Crystal Palace! We hope you enjoyed following along and will join us again soon!
Palace will hope to carry their momentum from this win into their match against Manchester City next Sunday who, while obviously a daunting opponent, were beaten by Palace the last time they faced each other. As for Newcastle, the loss will certainly sting, especially with the loss of Lejeune, but they will know that a win in any of their remaining matches should ensure their continued participation in the Premier League. Their next attempt will come against Leicester who have been flying high since the appointment of Brendan Rodgers.
90'+7 FULL-TIME: Newcastle United 0-1 Crystal Palace
90'+6 Now Wan-Bissaka hits the ball out behind as Atsu took him on. Newcastle have had eight corners thus far, but have yet to do anything meaningful from them.
90'+4 Benteke picks up a yellow card after he led with his elbow as he battled Schar for a ball in the air.
90'+3 Dann is forced to head a dangerous Atsu cross behind before it can reach Rondon. Late corner to Newcastle here.
90'+1 Zaha dribbles into the box but is a bit casual with the ball and it ends up rolling out off his shin for a goal-kick.
90' There will be seven minutes of added time.
That poor cross will be Ritchie's last action as he's replaced by Atsu.
89' Don't forget we're likely to see a hefty amount of stoppage time after the serious injuries to Lejeune and Tomkins this half.
88' Yedlin and Ritchie both miscue crosses in the past minute as the clock continues to tick. Can they get anything out of this match in the final minutes?
85' Andros Townsend is now withdrawn to the applause of the away support as he's replaced by Kouyate.
81' GOOOALLLL! PALACE TAKE THE LATE LEAD! Milivojevic stepped up coolly from the spot, and slotted his right-footed shot into the back of the net, as he so frequently does! Surely that's won it for Palace! Newcastle United 0-1 Crystal Palace
79' Hayden is the first Newcastle player to pick up a yellow card.
76' Ki makes way for Jonjo Shelvey who receives thunderous applause from the home supporters as he enters the pitch.
75' The flow of this match has certainly been impacted by the two significant injuries. Whoever can compose themselves quickest will certainly have the advantage for the remaining 15 minutes.
73' Scott Dann will be the replacement for the injured Tomkins.
70' Milivojevic cuts off Rondon and the former is seemingly shocked when he's called for the foul. Free-kick to Newcastle.
68' Perez torches Van Aanholt down the right before whipping in a ball to Rondon who couldn't control the ball quickly and ended up snatching at a shot that never troubled Guaita.
65' As mentioned at half-time, Benteke is indeed brought on for Batshuayi.
Dummett will be the player that replaces Lejuene for Newcastle.
64' Lejeune is now carried off the pitch on a stretcher, with an air-cast on his left leg. The defender has dealt with ligament damage in his knee previously, and one would certainly hope that he has not suffered a full re-injury.
57' Ritchie does indeed take the next free-kick but it's headed away by Palace with relative ease.
55' McArthur fouls Almiron from a bit outside the penalty area. Rondon lines up the free-kick again, and he fails to hit the target once more. You'd have to imagine Ritchie will be taking them from now on.
52' Lejeune has a free header from the preceding corner... and he puts it straight into the arms of Guaita! Anywhere else and that would have been the opening goal!
51' Perez collects the ball in the box and shoots with almost no back-lift and it's deflected behind for another Newcastle corner.
49' A pair of quick fouls from Palace with Milivojevic and Tomkins the offenders.
48' Zaha outpaces Yedlin, which is no easy task, before cutting a pass back to the penalty spot where there were no Palace players. Eventually Wan-Bissaka gets to it, curls it back to Zaha who whips it back in first-time to Schlupp who's header drifts just wide of target. Better from the visitors that.
46' Some excellent build up play by Newcastle in the opening minute of the second-half ends with a wayward shot off the foot of Ki.
The referee's whistle sounds once more, and we're back underway at St. James' Park!
It will be interesting to see how these sides come out for the second-half. You'd assume Newcastle would simply want to keep the status quo and just assume that one of these chances for Rondon will wind up in the back of the net... and not be called for offside. As for Palace, something likely needs to change. Bringing on Kouyate could help them re-establish themselves in the midfield while Benteke should be considered in the latter stages as, despite being in a lengthy goal drought, he provides more link-up play than Batshuayi, which could really benefit Roy Hodgson's side.
45'+2 HALF-TIME: Newcastle United 0-0 Crystal Palace
Kelly commits a heavy foul just outside the penalty area and Newcastle will have another set-piece before the half-time whistle.
Rondon took it and tired to aim for the top-right corner but failed to get enough curl on the ball to bring it back on target.
45'+1 Ritchie 'megs McArthur, and the latter fouls the Newcastle man in the process. This will be a dangerous free-kick from the hosts to end the half.
45' There will be two minutes of added time.
41' Perez pulls off a skillful roulette and then goes to the ground, but the referee remains unmoved by the former's protestations.
39' Rondon flubs the ball over to Almiron in the box and the latter's strike is deflected up and behind for another Newcastle corner, their fourth.
34' Rondon has the ball in the box. He delays his shot once, twice, and then tries to curl it past Guaita who dives the right way and saves it. That surely would have been a goal had the Venezuelan hit it first time!
33' Wan-Bissaka dribbles into the opposing penalty area and deftly flicks the ball over the defender before chipping a cross to... Dubravka who picks it out of the air.
31' A cheeky back-heel from Ki to Ritchie launches a Newcastle attack as the latter combines with Almiron.
29' Rondon skies a header at the back-post having been found with a terrific ball from Yedlin on the right flank.
27' Schlupp dribbles a little too casually through midfield and has it won off him by Hayden.
25' Zaha has two defenders on skates on the right side of the penalty area before whipping in a cross that simply has too much on it and is eventually cleared by Newcastle.
24' Palace win their first corner as Townsend tried to slot the ball into Bathsuayi in the box before Lejeune's sliding effort put it behind.
21' Palace now slowly pushing into Newcastle's half before MIlivojevic picks out Wan-Bissaka with a terrific cross-field ball. It seems the visitors have gotten away with their rough start as they start to grow back into the game.
17' A counter-attack from Palace leads to some neat passing between Rondon and Perez in the box before Ritchie unleashes the shot! It's saved and pushed behind by Guaita and Newcastle will have their third corner of the match.
16' We mentioned Newcastle and their tendency to foul in the pre-match, and it's fully on display there as Hayden goes in hard on Milivojevic. No further action is deemed necessary by the referee though.
13' The ball bounces ominously in Palace's penalty area but there's confusion as both Rondon and Schar make a move for it, with the latter taking a half-hearted shot that soars well above goal.
12' Perez and Yedlin combine well on the right with the following just missing Rondon with the cross, which seems to be a developing trend in the early stages.
10' Ki puts too much on an attempted pass into Rondon at the back post and it runs away from the striker and out of play.
8' Newcastle press high as Van Aanholt was forced to dribble back and out of danger and he successfully pick out his goalkeeper as Rondon tries to chase it down. A dangerous situation handled very well by Palace.
6' All three Newcastle centre backs come forward for a Ritchie corner, but the ensuing Rondon header bounces out of play for a goal-kick.
5' A lot of sloppy play in the midfield as both sides try to gain meaningful footing in this match.
3' Half-chance for Palace as Schlupp drags his left-footed shot wide right of goal. Early warning from the Crystal Palace attack there.
Huge cross-field ball from Ritchie over to DeAndre Yedlin as the Newcastle defenders pass the ball amongst themselves in the opening stages.
1' Referee Stuart Atwell blows his whistle, and this match is underway!
The players are walking out of the tunnel. Not long to go until kick-off now!
Crystal Palace substitutes: Wayne Hennessey, Scott Dann, Joel Ward, Cheikhou Kouyate, Sam Woods, Jordan Ayew, Christian Benteke.
Crystal Palace (4-3-3): Vicente Guaita; Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Martin Kelly, James Tomkins, Patrick van Aanholt; James McArthur, Luka Milivojevic, Jeffrey Schlupp; Andros Townsend, Michy Batshuayi, Wilfried Zaha.
Newcastle United substitutes: Karl Darlow, Federico Fernandez, Paul Dummett, Javier Manquillo, Jonjo Shelvey, Christian Atsu, Yoshinori Muto.
Newcastle United (5-4-1): Martin Dubravka; DeAndre Yedlin, Fabian Schar, Jamaal Lascelles, Florian Lejeune, Matt Ritchie; Ayoze Perez, Ki Sung-yueng, Isaac Hayden, Miguel Almiron, Salomon Rondon.
Now, let's look at the players who will be involved in this match today!
Also, it should be noted that it is no guarantee that either of today's managers, Rafa Benitez and Roy Hodgson, will still be at their current clubs come August. The former has been rumoured to be leaving Newcastle for quite some time, but things may be coming to a head as he will have a meeting with ownership this week to discuss investment in the summer. Benitez has been leveraging his quality and ability to leave to try and get Mike Ashley to spend on new players, and it seemed to work in January with the purchase of Miguel Almiron. As for Hodgson, the team's up-and-down performances have left many fans questioning whether or not the former England manager is the man to lead Palace going forward.
As for Crystal Place, a win is far from guaranteed seeing as they've won just one league match away to Newcastle in seven attempts. The visitors have managed to score at least one goal in six of their last seven matches though, so they will certainly be a threat going forward today.
