Thanks for joining our coverage today. Until next time, goodbye.
Hughes now faces a wait during the international break as the pressure upon him has increased significantly and it remains to be seen whether he will be in charge for the trip to Fulham in two weeks' time. Watford will also face a tough challenge in their next match as they host Jurgen Klopp's unbeaten Liverpool.
90'+4 FULL-TIME: SOUTHAMPTON 1-1 WATFORD
90'+3 Watford look the more likely of the two sides to snatch a late winner, which means Southampton are set to extend their winless run at home to six Premier League matches this season.
90'+1 The fourth official has signalled four minutes of additional time.
90' Third and final change for Southampton as Obafemi replaces Redmond, earning his second senior appearance in the Premier League.
88' Hobjberg becomes the third Southampton player to be booked after pulling Success' shirt.
87' There is a risk of things boiling over in the latter stages as both teams are aggrieved by decisions that have gone against them. There have also been a number of incidents that have seen players go head-to-head.
84' Watford look like they have the wind in their sails, with Southampton sliding away after seeing their second goal disallowed, and the visitors win a corner.
82' Deulofeu is attributed with the assist, which is rather appropriate as he has popped up all over the place in the game.
GOOOOOAL! 1-1! Watford are rewarded for their efforts and equalise. Ward-Prowse's clearance bounces off Deulofeu and into the path of Holebas. He strikes at goal and his effort takes a wicked deflection, leaving McCarthy helpless.
80' Redmond and Femenia clash as the Southampton man is furious with the challenge. Deulofeu rushes over the separate the pair but ends up being the player who is booked.
78' Watford are banging on the door but Southampton have improved significantly in defence during the second period and now look difficult to break down.
76' Still plenty of time for Watford to claw their way back into the game but the Hornets have lost their buzz in the past few minutes, while they have not had their sting for a number of weeks now.
74' Southampton call for their second change of the game, replacing Armstrong with Ward-Prowse.
72' Deeney's presence has caused Southampton issues throughout the second half and the introduction of Gray could be decisive but Watford will have to improve their creativity. Their final ball continues to be disappointing.
70' That is two key decisions that the officials have got wrong today. Bertrand's challenge on Chalobah should certainly have been a penalty and there is no reason for Southampton's second to be disallowed. Where is VAR when you need it?
68' Second change of the game for Watford is another attacking one as Gray takes the place of Pereyra.
Having just seen the replay, it is Yoshida who is in an offside position as Austin's shot flies past him. However, it does not look like he is interfering with play and Southampton will feel very aggrieved.
64' Cedric has his name taken by the referee for a foul on Pereyra in midfield, catching his opponent with a poor sliding challenge.
63' Watford fail to get the ball away and Southampton win a corner. Bertrand's delivery looks dangerous but Foster's attempts to come and collect possession are blocked, earning the Hornets a defensive free-kick.
61' An hour gone on the south coast and the game is still too tight to call. Southampton retain a narrow advantage but have offered barely anything since the restart, while Watford seem to be growing in confidence.
59' Watford are still pleading their case to the officials but it will not make any difference now. They will come again though as they continue to leave Southampton pegged back inside their own half.
55' Chalobah is handed a yellow card for pulling the shirt of Redmond.
54' Holebas' cross is poor though as it falls straight into the hands of McCarthy.
53' Watford are pushing forward and Success is proving to be a thorn in the side of Southampton's defence after winning another corner.
51' Success flashes a low cross towards the near post where Deeney, who has been quiet since his introduction, stabs an effort at goal but it is an easy save for McCarthy.
48' Southampton are furious not to earn a free-kick as Success catches Hoedt with a trailing arm but there was definitely no intent from the Watford forward.
46' Watford get the action back underway for the second half.
Hughes' concerns during the break will be regarding his side's defensive mistakes and he will have to keep a close eye on Bertrand, who has courted the referee's attention of a number of occasions and is on a booking. Watford, meanwhile, will hope that Deeney can provide the inspiration on his return from injury.
Southampton hold a narrow advantage at the break courtesy of Gabbiadini's first Premier League goal at home for over a year but they have looked shaky defensively. Fortunately for the hosts, Watford have been unable to find their rhythm in the final third and Gracia will be desperate for improvements.
45'+2 HALF-TIME: SOUTHAMPTON 1-0 WATFORD
45'+1 The fourth official has signalled for two additional minutes, as Deulofeu earns a talking to from the referee as he accuses Bertrand of elbowing him.
44' Gracia needs to kick Watford into gear during the interval because his side have been extremely disappointing.
42' A blow for both sides then which could lead to tactical changes in the final third. Gabbiadini could now play in a more central position, while Deulofeu could drop into a deeper role with Deeney leading the line alongside Success.
40' Southampton also make a change due to injury as Austin replaces Long.
Watford are forced into a change as Hughes is forced off through injury and is replaced by Deeney.
38' Bertrand earns the first yellow card of the game for a foul on Doucoure on the halfway line, which means he will miss Southampton's next game against Fulham.
36' Watford are back on the front foot, as Pereyra tests McCarthy with a curling effort from outside the box, and Southampton continue to make life difficult for themselves with defensive mistakes.
34' WIDE! Lemina curls an inviting cross into the middle where Yoshida is there to direct a header at goal but his effort fails to call Foster into action.
32' Better from Watford as Success tees a pass through to Deulofeu but, not for the first time, he elects to shoot from a tight angle and it is an easy save for McCarthy.
31' Still nothing for the visiting supporters to get excited about as Watford's performance continues to be rather poor. Gracia will be furious with the start his side have made to the game.
29' Best moment of the game for Watford as Pereyra makes a good run into the area and drags a ball back across the face of goal, where Success dummies but there is nobody else there to take advantage for the visitors.
26' Southampton have risen in confidence since taking the lead and they are keeping Watford under a consistent amount of pressure. The problem is their final ball has been poor.
24' Watford were wasteful in front of goal in their defeat to Newcastle last time out but the issue so far here has been a lack of creativity. Gracia's side are yet to find their rhythm.
22' The opening goal has sparked the home support into life as they are now urging their team on. Southampton fans have not had too much to cheer about so far this term.
20' Brilliant work from Ings to win possession but fingers must be pointed at Watford as they missed two decent opportunities to clear their lines.
GOOOOOAL! 1-0 Southampton! Watford fail to clear away the second corner and Long robs Pereyra of possession inside the box, with Gabbiadini pouncing on the loose ball and slotting home a goal that could be crucial for Hughes.
19' SAVE! Bertrand's corner is met by the head of Hoedt but it is straight at Foster, who palms the ball over the bar for another corner.
18' Armstrong does well down the flanks and wins the hosts their first corner of the game.
16' Hoedt fouls Success and Watford are handed a decent opportunity to float a free-kick into the box. Pereyra curls a ball into the middle but Mariappa is pulled up for an infrigement inside the area.
14' A fairly subdued start to the game for both sides and opportunities have been at a premium so far.
10' Success sees a shot deflected over the bar off Hoedt, which hands Watford the first corner of the game. Holebas is the man to deliver but his cross is poor and easily cleared away.
8' The importance of the match for Southampton has increased following Cardiff City's last-gasp victory over Brighton in the early kick-off, which saw the Saints slip into the relegation zone.
6' Watford have had Southampton pegged into their own half since that early chance but are yet to find their rhythm in the final third.
4' SAVE! Bertrand makes a mistake in midfield and Deulofeu bursts through on goal to force a save from McCarthy, though a better option would have been passing to a teammate.
3' Southampton have seen the lion's share of possession in the opening minutes but Watford are beginning to settle into the match.
