Thanks for joining our coverage today. Until next time, goodbye.
Liverpool will be full of confidence heading into next week's trip to Leicester and know that they have established themselves as the early pacesetters. After two tough tests, Brighton tackle Fulham before the international break in a match where Hughton will be determined to pick up further points.
Not the best performance for Liverpool but they did what they needed, as Salah's first-half goal seals a third win a row and sends the Reds top of the table at this very early stage of the season. Brighton can hold their heads high after a battling performance where they improved significantly in the second half.
90'+1 Three minutes of added time at the end of the second half.
89' Klopp makes a defensive change in his final substitution, bringing on Matip for Alexander-Arnold.
BIG SAVE! Alisson finally called into action as Gross heads at goal, palming the ball behind for a corner. The Brighton substitute should have done better with his attempt.
87' CHANCE! Wijnaldum flicked the cross with his heel from the corner but Brighton hook the ball away inside the six-yard box before a team-mate could tuck home.
86' WIDE! Alexander-Arnold almost with the deciding moment after cutting onto his left foot but fires an attempt just wide. It took a deflection though and the Reds have a corner.
85' For all of Brighton's impressive play in the past ten minutes or so, Alisson is still to be properly tested. Liverpool are closing in on their seventh consecutive Premier League clean sheet at Anfield.
83' Liverpool know their work is not done yet as Brighton continue to make it difficult for the hosts but the Reds look dangerous on the counter against tiring legs.
81' Decent spell for Brighton late in the match as Murray, not for the first time, almost catches Alisson in possession as the Liverpool stopper takes an unnecessary risk.
80' Brighton make their last change, bringing on Gross for Bissouma.
Liverpool's second change sees the introduction of Sturridge, replacing Mane.
79' Brighton win a succession of corners and Bissouma's delivery causes problems in the Liverpool defence but they eventually get it away.
77' Alexander-Arnold pulls back Locadia, earning his third yellow card in as many games.
76' Knockaert also makes way, replaced by Jahanbakhsh.
75' Brighton make a double change, the first of which sees Locadia replace March.
Salah's delivery is headed behind by Murray for a corner, which the Egpyt international again takes but Brighton clear the ball away.
73' Liverpool win a free-kick out wide down the left after a Bissouma handball.
71' Liverpool still unable to break down Brighton to create a clear-cut chance that would likely end the game as a contest but they continue to attack in numbers.
69' Brighton have certainly improved since the break but Alisson is still largely untested in the Liverpool net.
67' Liverpool make their first change, bringing on Henderson in place of Keita.
66' Bissouma smashes his attempt against the wall and deflects behind for a corner but Duffy is penalised for a foul as the cross comes in.
64' Brighton have shown plenty of promise in the past few minutes and have won a free-kick in a dangerous position, giving them a sight at goal.
62' Milner on the receiving end of a strong tackle once again, this time from Montoya on the edge of the Liverpool box.
60' Balogun clatters into Milner with a strong challenge and picks up the game's first yellow card.
58' Huge cries for a penalty as Salah's shot deflects off the leg of Duffy and onto his arm but the referee waves away the appeals.
56' Brighton have everybody behind the ball in an attempt to stop Liverpool from pulling further ahead but the Reds keep coming with attack after attack.
54' Liverpool back on the front foot after that earlier scare from Brighton but Hughton's side are still limiting the number of clear-cut chances they are creating.
52' Firmino receiving treatment on the touchline after a challenge with Brighton stopper Ryan but it seems he will not be replaced - although he does need a change of socks.
50' Liverpool given a wake-up call at the start of the second half but it has not knocked them out of their rhythm.
48' WIDE! Huge chance for Brighton as the Seagulls burst forward after Keita concedes possession, with Murray holding up play and then passing across to Knockaert. However, he could not hit the target with his attempt.
46' Liverpool restart the action at the start of the second half.
The hosts will look to continue in the same manner for the second period and will fancy their chances of extending their lead. Brighton need to take advantage of any set-pieces they earn if they are to claw their way back into the match but can be pleased with their defensive performance so far.
Liverpool's lead may just be one goal but the Reds have looked in control since kick-off. Brighton have largely done well to keep Klopp's side contained, though Hughton will be furious at the manner of the goal the Seagulls conceded after sloppily giving away possession.
45'+1 Two minutes of time added on.
44' OVER! Firmino looks to curl an effort from distance past Ryan but his attempt flies over the top of the bar.
42' Liverpool look fairly content to keep their margin at just one heading into the interval and will fancy their chances of extending their lead after the break when Brighton's legs start to tire.
40' Brighton just about managing to keep Liverpool at bay as we edge ever closer to the break.
38' Alisson gambles after a ball back to him and is fouled by Murray but it could have needlessly handed Brighton a golden opportunity.
36' Rare chance for Brighton as Alexander-Arnold's challenge puts the ball behind for a corner. March whips it towards the far post but Alisson punches the cross away.
34' Ryan again called into action to stop Mane, who bundled the ball towards goal after meeting another inviting cross from Robertson.
33' Brighton will be determined not to concede again before the interval. While the deficit is just one, they could still find a way back into the game. They will need to improve considerably though.
31' SAVE! Milner fires a superb pass into Wijnaldum inside the box but his attempt is saved by Ryan at the near post.
30' Klopp's side continued to flow with style at Anfield, Brighton have no response to the constant pressure.
28' Brighton have barely had a sniff of possession since Salah's goal but earn a quick rest after Milner fouls Bissouma, earning a warning from the referee.
25' It could now be a long road back for Brighton, who have been second best right from the start. Hughton will hope that the floodgates do not open.
23' Liverpool at their brilliant best in winning back possession and making Brighton pay. Firmino was alive and unselfish to provide the assist.
GOAL! 1-0 Liverpool! Milner steal possession from Bissouma and the ball falls for Firmino, who tees a pass across for Salah to curl home. Ryan got a touch to the shot but it was not enough as it bounced in off the post.
21' It does feel like the opening goal for Liverpool is coming, with Brighton's defence stretched and the Seagulls unable to create any attacks of their own.
19' Klopp's side in control as Salah drives an attempt to the near post that Ryan gathers easily, with the Reds not quite finding their stride in the final third.
15' OFF THE BAR! Alexander-Arnold steps up with a curling effort that bounces off the top of Ryan's crossbar.
13' Keita wins a free-kick on the edge of the box after being barged over by Stephens, handing Liverpool an opportunity in a very dangerous position.
12' Shaky moment for Alisson as he charges off his line and lunges into a challenge on March but the ball did not quite fall for the Brighton man to take advantage.
11' Half-hearted Liverpool appeals for handball as Robertson's cross is blocked by referee Chris Kavanagh ignores the pleas.
9' WHAT A SAVE! Robertson whips an inviting cross into the near post where Firmino meets the ball with a strong header but Ryan gets down superbly to deny the Brazil international his first goal of the season.
8' Brighton already on the back foot as they cannot stop the continued assaults from the home side.
6' At the other end, Knockaert is finding his rhythm and beats Robertson to shift onto his left foot but his attempt is comfortably saved by Alisson.
5' WIDE! Salah finds space down the right and launches Liverpool's attack, teeing a pass into the middle where Mane pokes an effort off target.
3' Unsurprisingly it is Liverpool controlling the tempo at the early stages, with Brighton looking to pack the midfield with what is effectively a line of five.
1' We are underway at Anfield, where Brighton commence the action.
The teams are in the tunnel and the final Premier League match of the day is just minutes away.
Brighton make two changes from the 3-2 win over United last week, with Hughton bringing in Balogun and Bissouma. Gross drops to the bench, with Lewis Dunk absent due to the injury sustained in the dramatic win last time out.
Klopp names the same starting line-up for the third game in a row, with Matip and van Dijk continuing their defensive partnership in the absence of Dejan Lovren. Fabinho does not make the squad, with Henderson and Shaqiri both on the bench.
Brighton subs: David Button, Alireza Jahanbakhsh, Markus Suttner, Bernardo, Pascall Gross, Beram Kayal, Jurgen Locadia.
Liverpool subs: Simon Mignolet, Joel Matip, Jordan Henderson, Xherdan Shaqiri, Daniel Sturridge, Adam Lallana, Alberto Moreno.
Brighton XI (4-4-1-1): Mat Ryan; Martin Montoya, Leon Balogun, Shane Duffy, Gaetan Bong; Anthony Knockaert, Dale Stephens, Davy Propper, Solly March; Yves Bissouma; Glenn Murray.
Liverpool XI (4-3-3): Alisson; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson; James Milner, Georginio Wijnaldum, Naby Keita; Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane.
Brighton stuttered to an opening weekend at Watford but Chris Hughton's side responded superbly last weekend, securing a famous 3-2 win over Manchester United. Another stern test awaits this afternoon though and the Seagulls will have to be at their best.
Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool eased past West Ham on the opening weekend and then edged Crystal Palace on Monday evening. The Reds will expect another win at Anfield today, which would take them top of the Premier League at this very early stage of the campaign.
