Minute   Description
FULL-TIME: Burnley move into the top four thanks to Ashley Barnes' dramatic late goal. It is sheer delight for Burnley and Sean Dyche, but absolute misery for Mark Hughes and his Stoke side. The Clarets move above Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham into the Champions League places. Wow.
90'+2 Pieters' cross causes panic in the Burnley penalty area as Tarkowski heads back to his own goal but Pope gathers. Can the hosts hang on?!
90'+1 Burnley win a corner, which they will take their time with. Surely there is no way back for Stoke now.
90' FOUR minutes will be added on!
89' GOAL! Burnley are ahead! It's Barnes, the substitute, who breaks the deadlock - and it may well propel the hosts into the TOP FOUR! Stoke fail to deal with Cork's long ball, Arfield and Barnes exchange passes, the latter is released and slots past Butland! A lovely finish.
Assist Scott Arfield
86' WIDE! Diouf knocks the ball into the path of Crouch who is allowed to turn inside the Burnley penalty box, but he scuffs his half-volley narrowly off target.
85' Choupo-Moting is immediately involved as he is picked out on the edge of the box, but his effort is straight at Pope.
84' STOKE SUB: The travelling supporters chant 'you don't know what you're doing' in response to Hughes' decision to take off Shaqiri, undoubtedly Stoke's most creative player. He is replaced by Maxim Choupo-Moting.
83' STAT: Stoke are winless in 53 top-flight away matches played on a Tuesday since a 3-0 victory at Everton in April 1906 (D13, L40).
82' BURNLEY SUB: Sam Vokes, who has three Premier League goals this season, replaces Wood.
80' Taylor finds space on the left flank but fails to control a pass and it runs out for a Stoke goal-kick. Meanwhile, Burnley are preparing another substitution.
78' "Come on Burnley" is the chant from the home supporters. Can the hosts break down Stoke or will Hughes' side stand firm?
76' Sobhi pushes his marker Bardsley and Burnley win a free-kick. Pope pumps the ball forward and Wood rises highest to find Barnes. However, his effort from distance drifts wide.
74' Hughes has readjusted his line-up; Diouf swaps positions with Shaqiri who is now playing behind Crouch.
73' Taylor fouls Shaqiri but again Mike Jones keeps his cards in his pocket. There hasn't been a single booking tonight, which is rather strange considering there have been plenty of fouls.
72' The momentum is with Burnley now with the home supporters urging their side on. Remember, if Sean Dyche's side can find a winner they will move into the top four.
71' BURNLEY SUB: Ashley Barnes replaces Hendrick.
70' OVER! A cross is sent into the Stoke box and Wood fails to connect with a bicycle-kick. It falls for Gudmundsson on the left side of the box but he snatches at it and fires the shot into row-Z.
68' SAVE! Wimmer's clearance is straight to Defour who rifles an effort at goal, but Butland makes the save.
67' Diouf turns Long inside the penalty area, with the Burnley defender going to ground and Mike Jones spots a foul! A dubious decision and the hosts get away with one.
66' STOKE SUB: Zouma limps off the pitch and is replaced by Kevin Wimmer for the remaining 25 minutes or so.
64' Allen also requires treatment after he was inadvertently caught in the face. He is bloodied, but should be OK to continue.
62' Zouma appears to have pulled his hamstring while chasing a ball down and he is coming off.
60' Arfield appears to lose his footing and subsequently slides into Cameron as the ball runs out of play. He can blame it on the wet surface, though. Both players gather themselves to their feet and everyone is OK.
59' STAT: A total of nine league goals have been scored at Turf Moor this season, six fewer than at any other stadium.
58' Gudmundsson delivers... but it evades everyone including Long who had picked up a good position at the back post.
57' Clever play by Gudmundsson who draws a foul in dangerous territory. Burnley have an opportunity to bring players forward to contest this free-kick delivery now.
54' PENALTY APPEAL! Well, half-hearted appeals, anyway. The visitors spot a handball inside the Burnley box as Crouch and Shaqiri exchange passes, but Mike Jones is unmoved and play continues.
53' Shaqiri tries to lighten up a dull encounter with an effort from distance but Pope makes a relatively easy stop.
51' Taylor, who is making his Premier League debut, looks at home in a left-back position. He is making the most of the opportunity after replacing the injured Ward just before half time.
50' Shaqiri commits a foul in midfield and Burnley take the free-kick quickly. It is spread to Taylor on the left-flank but his inviting cross is hacked clear by the visitors.
48' Crouch wins a header and knocks the ball into the path of Diouf. However, the Stoke forward uses his arm to control the ball as he moves into the penalty area and the referee stops play for a foul.
47' Crouch is penalised for a flailing arm and Burnley fail to threaten from the free-kick. It was clearly accidental and the Stoke forward wasn't booked.
46' The players return for the second half and Burnley get us underway at Turf Moor.
Stoke were the livelier in the first half and Hughes will be pleased with his side's reaction after a heavy defeat to Tottenham on Saturday. The visitors created the better chances, with Crouch and Diouf both going close. In truth however, clear cut opportunities have been few and far between on a miserable night in Lancashire.
HALF TIME: Burnley deal with the resulting set-piece delivery comfortably and that is the last action of the first half.
45' Defour concedes possession in midfield and tries to atone his error by challenging Sobhi, only to concede a free-kick.
44' Two minutes will be added on at the end of a closely fought first-half.
42' Arfield fails to clear convincingly and Sobhi is invited to shoot, but he can't find the target from 25 yards out.
41' BURNLEY SUB: Charlie Taylor comes on for his Premier League debut as he replaces Ward at left-back.
40' Ward is struggling with a leg injury and may be forced to come off.
38' OVER! Burnley are growing into the contest now and putting their visitors under a little pressure. They force another corner and it comes as far as Arfield who rifles a first-time volley at goal. It is blocked but falls to Gudmundsson who tries to find the top corner with a curled effort from the edge of the box, but it ends up drifting well over the bar.
36' STAT: Stoke have won just one of their last 10 top-flight matches at Turf Moor, back in November 1975.
34' Shawcross pushes Wood and Burnley have another free-kick. It is pumped into the danger area, but the visitors can only half clear. It falls kindly to Defour whose shot is blocked.
32' Cameron was on the receiving end of a firm challenge and now he is fortunate not to go into the book for a foul on Hendrick, though the weather probably had its part to play. Burnley curl the resulting free-kick into the visitors' penalty area but Tarkowski fails to direct his header on target. It must have taken a deflection though, as the referee signals for a corner.
30' So it remains goalless after half an hour on a cold, wet night in Burnley. It certainly isn't ideal weather conditions for a game of football, but the visitors are managing better at the moment.
29' The corner is worked to Sobhi from outside the box and he unloads, but the effort fails to test Pope. Stoke on top here.
27' CHANCE! Crouch picks out Shaqiri with a beautiful pass on the half-volley. The Swiss international plays a reverse pass to Diouf whose shot from the right side of the box takes a deflection off Tarkowski and goes behind for a corner.
25' Gareth Southgate is in the stands this evening and undoubtedly has an eye on the likes of Butland and Shawcross. Maybe even Crouch?!
23' Jack Butland drops Ward's cross from the left flank but he is bailed out by Erik Pieters who clears the danger. That was a let off for the Stoke goalkeeper.
21' Shawcross makes a mess of a long ball, conceding a soft corner in the process. Can Burnley take advantage? They play it short, and ultimately it comes to nothing.
19' CHANCE! Sobhi turns Gudmundsson inside out and picks out Diouf who drifts in between two defenders inside the box. However, the Stoke striker can only head wide of the post.
16' Arfield goes in hard but fair on Cameron, winning the ball back for Burnley in midfield and launching an attack. The move doesn't come to anything but that was an old-school challenge. Cameron is down in some pain, but he should be OK to continue.
14' Bardsley, making his 250th Premier League appearance, is clattered by Crouch but he's back on his feet and ready to continue.
12' Hughes needs a response from his side after the disappointing performance at Wembley, and he will be pleased with the start the visitors have made.
11' Stoke have started positively and look really motivated, despite the baltic weather. Goals haven't been a problem this season - in fact they have scored more than Burnley - but their defence has been vulnerable, particularly in recent weeks.
10' Pope is off his line quickly to gather Fletcher's deep cross, ahead of Crouch who was lurking at the back post. Stoke are using the ball well in the wide areas.
7' STAT: Stoke have only managed two wins and 10 points from their last 16 away games.
5' SAVE! Stoke have started the brightest as they continue to put pressure on the Burnley defence. Again it is Shaqiri who is causing trouble as the Swiss international finds Zouma but he shoots straight at Pope.
4' CHANCE! Tarkowski fails to track Peter Crouch and the former England striker is picked out at the back post by Ramadan Sobhi! However, Crouch fails to connect properly with the effort and Pope palms the danger clear.
3' Xherdan Shaqiri registers Stoke's first effort on target, but his snapshot is comfortably saved by Nick Pope.
2' The hosts win an early free-kick which is pumped into the penalty area. James Tarkowski rises highest, but he fails to direct his header on target from the right side of the box. The Burnley defender is pretty useful with his head and he will be disappointed with that finish.
1' And we are underway! This should be an intriguing tie, with both sides having plenty to play for.
The players are out on the pitch and now we are only moments from kick off.
STAT: Stoke have 16 points after 16 matches, their lowest tally at this stage of a Premier League season. Even a win on Tuesday would only equal their worst start to a Premier League season after 17 games.
Stoke boss Hughes makes three changes and reverts back to a traditional 4-4-2 following the thrashing by Tottenham. Kevin Wimmer, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Thomas Edwards drop to the bench with Geoff Cameron, Peter Crouch and Ramadan Sobhi coming into the fold.
Burnley are unchanged from the side that beat Watford 1-0 on Saturday, with Ben Mee failing to recover from a knee injury in time. Phil Bardsley makes his 250 Premier League appearance.
Stoke subs: Grant, Wimmer, Berahino, Choupo-Moting, Afellay, Adam, Edwards.
STOKE (4-4-2): Butland, Zouma, Shawcross, Cameron, Pieters; Allen, Fletcher, Sobhi, Shaqiri; Crouch, Diouf,
Burnley subs: Lindegaard, Taylor, Vokes, Barnes, Westwood, Ulvestad, Wells.
BURNLEY (4-5-1): Pope, Bardsley, Long, Ward, Tarkowski; Defour, Cork, Gudmundsson, Hendrick, Arfield; Wood.
Let’s get into the team news and we will start with the hosts...
While Burnley are brimming with confidence, Stoke have only won one of their last six games and were beaten 5-1 at Tottenham on Saturday. Mark Hughes’ side have the worst defensive record in the division and are only three points from the relegation zone.
Burnley will be rewarded for their impressive campaign with a place in the top four if they can record a victory this evening, with Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham not involved until Wednesday night. They are already 11 points better off than at the same stage of last season.
