Minute   Description
Thank you for joining our Live Text Commentary between Chelsea and Swansea City. Until next time, goodbye.
FULL-TIME – CHELSEA 1-0 SWANSEA CITY – Antonio Rudiger’s header has secured the three points for the home side in this contest. It was a far from convincing performance from Chelsea, who dominated the match but lacked a clinical edge in front of goal. Alvaro Morata and Pedro had good chances in the opening 45 minutes, yet Swansea defended well to keep the score level at half time. It took a deflected strike from N’Golo Kante for the hosts to take the lead as the French midfielders effort fell straight into the path of Rudiger, who made no mistake by heading in from close range. Chelsea looked more likely to extend their lead, but found themselves seeing out the game in the final quarter to extend their run to six unbeaten in the Premier League.
90'+3 Yellow card - Alvaro Morata is booked in the closing stages at Stamford Bridge.
90' The fourth official indicates that there will be four minutes of additional time.
89' Swansea work a brilliant opening down the left-hand touchline, which eventually resulted in Wayne Routledge crossing towards Bony. The striker was free at the far post, but the delivery was slightly in front of him as he failed to make contact with the ball despite having the goal at his mercy.
86' Swansea win a free kick in a dangerous central position after N'Golo Kante fouled Fer. It was curled in by Ki Sung-Yeung, but dealt with well by Marcus Alonso. Will the Welsh side score a late equaliser?
84' Substitution - Jordan Ayew is replaced by Wayne Routledge for the away side.
81' Substitution - Willian, who has been one of Chelsea's best players this evening, departs for Danny Drinkwater as the home side look to see out this match.
Substitution - Pedro is replaced by Eden Hazard in the closing stages.
78' Swansea have a sustained period of possession by constantly moving the ball across the pitch, but they fail to create anything and the opportunity is eventually cleared away.
75' Substitution - Davide Zappacosta is taken off for Victor Moses.
74' Marcus Alonso has played an important role in this match for Chelsea. The defender is unlucky not to score after playing a one-two with Willian, but his effort inside the left-hand corner of the box was met by Lukasz Fabianski from a tight angle.
71' Despite Chelsea's dominance, they do only have a one goal lead so Paul Clement's side are still in this contest. They win a corner through Jordan Ayew, but the resulting delivery from Ki Sung-Yeung was cleared away.
68' GOOD SAVE! Willian took an initial free kick which was cleared straight back into his path, before dribbling towards Swansea's goal. He eventually curled a shot towards the bottom right-hand corner, but it was tipped around the post by Lukasz Fabianski.
65' Substitution - Roque Mesa is replaced by Oliver McBurnie.
63' CHANCE! Lukasz Fabianski will not let Alvaro Morata score this evening. A Cesc Fabregas free kick was curled in from the right-hand touchline and met by the Spanish forward, but his powerful header was tipped over the bar by the Polish keeper.
61' The goal has given Antonio Rudiger real confidence, with the defender going on a surging run by carrying the ball from inside his own half to just outside Swansea's 18-yard box. Unfortunately for the defender, it was eventually cleared away but the fans appreciated his effort.
58' CHANCE! Chelsea nearly receive yet another bit of fortune after a mishit shot from outside the box fell into the path of Alonso, who was free in the right-hand side of Swansea's box. The Spaniard looked to curl the ball in the bottom left-hand corner, but it was cut out by a superb challenge at the vital moment.
55' GOOOAAALLL!!! CHELSEA 1–0 SWANSEA CITY – ANTONIO RUDIGER OPENS THE SCORING FOR THE HOME SIDE – A corner from the right-hand side is played short and worked towards N’Golo Kante, who had a shot from outside the box. It deflected off Wilfred Bony and into the path of Antonio Rudiger, who headed the ball into the net from close range.
54' CHANCE! Willian has been Chelsea's creative spark in this match as this time he set up Pedro for a brilliant opportunity. The Brazilian drifted past three players, before cutting the ball back to Pedro from the left-hand touchline. The Spaniard lacked composure, which resulted in him blasting his effort over the bar from inside the 18-yard box.
51' The second half starts in similar fashion to the first, with Chelsea dominating possession and territory. Swansea continue to defend well, however, which has resulted in the home side creating very little in the opening stages of this half.
48' Chelsea nearly create an opening as a long ball from the halfway line was sent towards Marcus Alonso, whose volleyed delivery was cleared behind for a corner. The resulting set-piece was cleared away.
46' Substitution - Renato Sanches is withdrawn for Leroy Fer. The Portuguese midfielders career has really not taken off in the Premier League since his loan move from Bayern Munich.
Swansea kick off the second half and are now attacking from left to right in their red away kit.
HALF-TIME - CHELSEA 0-0 SWANSEA - It has been a contest dominated by Chelsea so far, but they are yet to open the scoring in this match. Alvaro Morata has had a few opportunities for the hosts which have been met by Lukasz Fabianski, whilst Willian has looked dangerous throughout the contest. Swansea need to find a way of relieving the pressure in the second half, but Paul Clement's side have defended well in the opening 45 minutes. Antonio Conte was sent off towards the end of the first half for Chelsea, meaning he will be in the stands for the rest of the game.
45' The fourth official indicates that there will be one minute of added time.
43' Antonio Conte has been sent to the stands for the rest of this match.
42' CHANCE! Chelsea work the ball out to Willian on the right-hand touchline, who beat his man before delivering a low cross into the six-yard box. Pedro had a brilliant opportunity to score, but did not make good contact with the ball which resulted in it trickling past the left-hand post. Huge let off for the away side!
40' The Chelsea players become frustrated as an opportunity to counter-attack goes to waste, with the ball eventually being played back to Antonio Rudiger which allowed Swansea's players to chase back. Will Antonio Conte turn to Eden Hazard in the second half? The home side are missing him so far in this contest.
37' STAT: Swansea have conceded two or more goals in five of their six Premier League visits to Stamford Bridge
34' Swansea continue to defend well in this game, but Paul Clement's side have no outlet with Wilfred Bony being given little service so far in this match. They could have done with Tammy Abraham, who would have used his pace to stretch Chelsea's defence, but the striker is ineligible against his parent club this evening.
31' Chelsea's increased dominance in this contest is down to a quicker tempo from Antonio Conte's players in the past 10 minutes. They are pressing the away side high up the pitch before attacking quickly when the win the ball back, which is something they were not doing in the opening stages of this match.
29' CHANCE! Chelsea continue to pass the ball quickly around Swansea's box as they try to find space to create a chance. It eventually fell into the path of Cesc Fabregas, who crossed from outside the right corner of the box. It was deflected and met by Morata again, whose inventive volley towards goal was flicked over the bar by Fabianski.
26' Chelsea appeal for yet another penalty as Marcus Alonso fell in the box, but the referee made the correct call as Renato Sanches made a well-timed tackle on the defender at the vital moment.
23' Chelsea are starting to dominate this match as they have two good chances in succession. Firstly, Willian's shot from outside the 18-yard box was tipped around the post by Fabianski. From the resulting corner Alvaro Morata was first to the ball, but headed his effort straight at the goalkeeper.
21' Half a chance for Chelsea after Willian delivered a corner from the left-hand side. The Brazilian curled the ball in towards Morata, who made a good run to the front post, but the Spaniard's header landed on the roof of the net.
18' Swansea nearly gift Chelsea a goal after Martin Olsson failed to clear the ball sufficiently. It was retained by Chelsea and played back into the 18-yard box, where Pedro drifted past his man before firing a low shot towards goal which Lukasz Fabianski met comfortably.
15' Despite them having the better, and few, opportunities so far in this match, Chelsea have started in a subdued manner with the away fans making most of the noise inside Stamford Bridge.
13' STAT: Alvaro Morata has scored more goals (8) in the Premier League than Swansea have as a team (7).
11' CHANCE! Chelsea win a free kick to the left-hand side of Swansea's penalty area. Willian curled a dangerous delivery in, which glanced off the head of Marcus Alonso and travelled narrowly past the right-hand post.
10' Chelsea put together their first meaningful attack of the match as Marcus Alonso headed the ball into the box. It landed into the path of Alvaro Morata who fell to the floor as he went for the ball, but the referee instantly waved away his penalty appeal.
7' There has been a lack of goalmouth action in the opening stages of this match. Swansea are taking the game to Chelsea by passing the ball around confidently, instead of defending for a result which many expected.
4' It has been an even start in this contest as both teams experience spells of possession as they ease into the game. Cesc Fabregas has already had an influence on this match, with him teammates constantly running in behind as the Spanish midfielder attempts to pick them out with his expansive passing range.
2' STAT: Chelsea have only lost one of the 12 encounters against Swansea in the Premier League and are unbeaten against the Welsh side at Stamford Bridge.
1' Referee Neil Swarbrick blows his whistle and we’re off! Chelsea kick off and are attacking from left to right in the opening 45 minutes.
The teams walk out of the tunnel and are greeted by a loud reception from everyone inside Stamford Bridge. The game will begin shortly.
Paul Clement has made no changes from the Swansea team that drew to Bournemouth on the weekend.
Chelsea have made four changes from their weekend draw against Liverpool by bringing in Antonio Rudiger, Cesc Fabregas, Willian and Pedro into the starting eleven. Eden Hazard starts this contest on the bench for the home side.
Swansea substitutes: Nordfeldt, Rangel, Clucas, Fer, Dyer, Routledge, McBurnie
Swansea XI (4-3-1-2): Fabianski; Naughton, Van Der Hoorn, Mawson, Olsson; Mesa, Ki Sung-Yueng, Carroll; Sanches; Ayew, Bony ©.
Chelsea substitutes: Caballero, Azpilicueta, Ampadu, Moses, Drinkwater, Bakayoko, Hazard.
Chelsea XI (3-4-3): Courtois; Rudiger, Cahill ©, Christensen; Zappacosta, Fabregas, Kante, Alonso; Willian, Morata, Pedro.
There’s just over 15 minutes to go until kick off, so let’s reveal how the two teams line up…
HEAD TO HEAD: Chelsea have won two of the previous five meetings against Swansea, with two of the other matches ending in a draw. The Welsh side have won once in the previous five encounters, which was a 1-0 victory over Chelsea towards the end of the 2015/16 season.
Chelsea won 2-1 at Stamford Bridge against Swansea last season, whilst the reverse fixture at the Liberty Stadium finished 2-2.
Swansea are winless in the Premier League since their 2-0 victory over Huddersfield on October 14th. They drew 0-0 to Bournemouth on the weekend, but haven’t scored a league goal in their last three matches. If they fail to score this evening, Swansea will equal a club record of four consecutive matches without a goal. They will be tasked to overcome this without their top scorer, Tammy Abraham, who is ineligible to play this evening as he is on loan from Chelsea.
Antonio Conte’s side are gathering momentum in the Premier League and are currently on a five-match unbeaten run. They came from behind at Anfield on the weekend to rescue a 1-1 draw against Liverpool courtesy of a late goal from Willian, a result which has left them 3rd in the table. Tonight’s match is far from a foregone conclusion, however, as Chelsea have already lost two home league matches this campaign, a total which has already equalled their league defeats at Stamford Bridge from last season.
The home side will be looking to return to winning ways after drawing last time out, whilst Swansea will hope to secure their first league victory since October 14th.
