Minute   Description
Thank you for joining our Live Text Commentary between West Bromwich Albion and Chelsea this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
This result will heap the pressure on Tony Pulis as that's now 10 matches without a victory for West Brom in the Premier League. It will be interesting to see if he is still in charge next weekend as that was an underwhelming performance from the Baggies.
FULL-TIME – WEST BROM 0-4 CHELSEA – Antonio Conte’s side secure the three points after a devastating first half performance at The Hawthorns. Goals from Alvaro Morata, Eden Hazard and Marcus Alonso in the opening 45 minutes put the game beyond West Brom. Despite having half time to regroup, the home side failed produce a better performance in the second half as Eden Hazard scored his second of the game after being found by a brilliant Cesc Fabregas pass. The remainder of the match saw Chelsea maintain possession with ease as the West Brom players appeared to have all of the confidence evaporated from them.
90' Yellow card - Alvaro Morata is booked for kicking out at his opponent.
There will be two minutes of added time at The Hawthorns.
88' Yellow card - Claudio Yacob is booked for a late challenge on Andreas Christensen.
85' WHAT A MISS! James McClean's first action as a substitute resulted in him pinching the ball off Andreas Christensen, before charging clean through on goal. The Irish international drove into the penalty area and looked destined to score, but dragged his effort past the right-hand post with the goal at his mercy.
84' Substitution - Matt Phillips is replaced by James McClean.
80' Although the three points are secured for Chelsea, Antonio Conte will want his side to maintain their high standards by keeping a clean sheet. Goal difference could play a role in the title race this season, with the top teams being required to produce a large goal difference because of the margin Manchester City are currently winning matches by.
77' Substitution - N'Golo Kante is withdrawn for Willian.
76' West Brom win a free kick just outside of Chelsea's penalty area. Gareth Barry stepped up to take the set-piece, but fired his effort into the gloves of Courtois.
73' The confidence appears to have evaporated from West Brom’s players as they continue to chase the ball around the pitch. Chelsea are almost treating this as a training match, with their players not being put under any pressure when they are in possession of the ball.
71' Substitution - Eden Hazard, who has been fantastic this afternoon, departs for Pedro.
70' Substitution - Jay Rodriguez departs for Oliver Burke.
CHANCE! Alvaro Morata squanders an opportunity to score his second goal of the game after being found in the box by N'Golo Kante. The forward fired his effort towards goal, but almost rushed his shot as it flew over the crossbar when he should have hit the target.
67' Substitution - Cesc Fabregas receives a standing ovation from the Chelsea supporters, with Danny Drinkwater coming on in his place.
65' You have to feel for Tony Pulis, whose job will surely be on the line after this match having gone 10 matches without a victory in the Premier League.
62' Assist - Cesc Fabregas has been superb this afternoon, with his pass supplying Hazard for Chelsea's fourth goal.
GOOOAAALLL!!! WEST BROM 0–4 CHELSEA – EDEN HAZARD SCORES HIS SECOND OF THE GAME – This is far too easy for Chelsea, with West Brom’s players failing to put pressure on the opposition when they have the ball. Cesc Fabregas picked it up on the halfway line and played a chipped through ball into the path of Eden Hazard. The Belgium forward controlled superbly and drifted past Hegazi, before slotting the ball past Ben Foster into the bottom right-hand corner.
60' The West Brom players are giving their supporters nothing to cheer about here, with Chelsea maintaining possession by constantly moving it from right to left across the pitch.
57' It has been a very quiet start to the second half, with each side creating very little. This will please Antonio Conte though because his team have survived the initial spell from West Brom after half time without conceding a goal.
54' Yellow card - West Brom continue to maintain possession as they look to get back into this game. The ball is played into the channel for Salomon Rondon, who burst into the area before being bundled over. The referee believed the forward dived, however, which led to him receiving a yellow card.
50' Yellow card - Cesc Fabregas goes into the book.
48' West Brom have started the second half on the front foot by putting together a series of attacks, but they fail to create a chance to test Thibaut Courtois in Chelsea's goal.
46' Substitution - Grzegorz Krychowiak departs for Claudio Yacob.
West Brom kick off the second half and are now attacking from left to right.
The players are about to come out for the second half which will begin shortly.
HALF-TIME – WEST BROM 0-3 CHELSEA – What a clinical display from Chelsea, who have surely put this game beyond the home side in the opening 45 minutes. Alvaro Morata opened the scoring after following up a rebounded save from Eden Hazard’s shot. The scorer then turned provider by producing an outstanding flicked-pass to his Belgium teammate, who made no mistake by taking it round Ben Foster before doubling Chelsea’s lead. It then turned from bad to worse for West Brom thanks to Marcus Alonso, who added a third after being unmarked from an attacking free kick. This will have to be Tony Pulis’ biggest half time talk in his managerial career for them to get back into this contest.
45' The fourth official indicates that there will be two minutes of additional time.
41' Tony Pulis will be furious with his players at their marking from that set-piece. Allowing Marcus Alonso to have so much space at the far post from such a dangerous position is really poor. The remainder of this match could get embarrassing.
38' Assist - Cesc Fabregas' delivery made Alonso's task of scoring one of the simplest ones he will ever have.
GOOOAAALLL!!! WEST BROM 0–3 CHELSEA – MARCUS ALONSO ADDS A THIRD FOR THE AWAY SIDE – Chelsea win a free kick after a clumsy foul from Ahmed Hegazi outside the left-hand corner of their defensive penalty area. Cesc Fabregas whipped the ball in and found Marcus Alonso at the back post, who volleyed his effort into the net past Foster.
35' With ten minutes to go until half time, West Brom cannot afford to let Chelsea score again as the result will be done in this contest. They desperately need a talking to from Tony Pulis, who himself needs to inspire his players with his job under scrutiny.
32' WHAT IS HE DOING! West Brom aimlessly pass the ball across their backline, mainly because of the lack of options up the pitch, before eventually going all the way back to Ben Foster. The keeper was met by Morata, who closed him down quickly, but instead of clearing the ball he tried to dummy past the Spanish forward who nearly intercepted but for a last ditched challenge by Foster himself. Huge let off for the hosts!
29' This has been the worst possible start from West Brom, whose fans have fallen silent inside The Hawthorns.
26' STAT: West Brom have lost all 11 of their previous Premier League home matches against reigning champions.
23' GOOOAAALLL!!! WEST BROM 0–2 CHELSEA – EDEN HAZARD DOUBLES CHELSEA’S LEAD – Two goals in quick succession for Antonio Conte’s men in this match. The ball was played forward to Morata, who played a marvellous flicked-pass with his heel which unlocked the West Brom defence. It fell into the path of Eden Hazard, who calmly took it round the onrushing Ben Foster before finishing his effort into the back of the net.
Assist - Alvaro Morata has already produced a contender for assist of the weekend. His flicked-pass created an opportunity out of nothing, which Eden Hazard finished.
21' It's all Chelsea now. They work the ball down the right-hand touchline before crossing it into the area, where it was cleared away into the path of Marcus Alonso. The full-back failed to hit the target, however, as his effort flew past the right-hand post.
19' Yellow card - Eden Hazard is booked for a horrible tackle on Grezgorz Krychowiak.
17' GOOOAAALLL!!! WEST BROM 0–1 CHELSEA – ALVARO MORATA OPENS THE SCORING – Eden Hazard does brilliantly after picking the ball up inside West Brom’s half. The Belgium drifted past Gareth Barry, before firing a shot towards goal from outside the 18-yard box. His effort was saved well by Ben Foster, but the ball landed straight into the path of Morata who made no mistake from the rebound.
15' CHANCE! A flowing move from Chelsea results in Cesc Fabregas picking the ball up just outside West Brom's defensive penalty area. The midfielder played it to Tiemoue Bakayoko who rolled his man and got his shot away, but the French midfielder dragged his effort past the right-hand post from inside the box.
12' There has not been much goalmouth action in the opening stages of this game, with both teams still sussing each other out by exchanging spells of possession.
10' STAT: This is Antonio Conte’s 50th Premier League game in charge of Chelsea. Since his appointment, the Italian has guided them to 115 league points which is more than any other side since the start of last season.
8' It has been a bright start from West Brom, who are not defending deep from the off despite many thinking they would.
5' DISALLOWED GOAL! West Brom thought they had the lead after Matt Phillips found Rondon with his cross from the right-hand touchline. The striker guided his header into the Chelsea net, but was flagged offside.
4' The contest starts in expected fashion with Chelsea dominating possession, whilst West Brom ensure they are defensively strong in the opening stages of this match. Starting Salomon Rondon and Jay Rodriguez shows intent from Tony Pulis, as leaving two up front is bound to cause the away side problems on the counter-attack throughout the game.
2' STAT: West Brom have lost 16 games against Chelsea in the Premier League, which is their joint-highest total against an opponent alongside Arsenal and Manchester City.
1' Referee Jonathan Moss blows his whistle and we’re off! Chelsea kick off and are attacking from left to right in the first half.
The teams walk out of the tunnel and are greeted by a loud reception from everyone inside The Hawthorns. The game will begin shortly.
Chelsea have made no changes from their victory over Manchester United.
Tony Pulis has made two changes to the side that faced Huddersfield by bringing in Matt Phillips and Salomon Rondon for Allan Nyom and Hal Robson-Kanu.
Chelsea substitutes: Caballero, Rudiger, Drinkwater, Pedro, Willian, Luiz, Ampadu.
Chelsea XI (3-5-2): Courtois; Christensen, Cahill ©, Azpilicueta; Zappacosta, Fabregas, Kante, Bakayoko, Alonso; Morata, Hazard.
West Brom substitutes: Nyom, Robson-Kanu, Yacob, Brunt, Myhill, McClean, Burke.
West Brom XI (3-5-2): Foster; McAuley, Hegazi, Evans ©; Phillips, Krychowiak, Barry, Livermore, Gibbs; Rondon, Rodriguez.
There’s just over 15 minutes to go until kick off, so let’s reveal how the two teams line up…
HEAD TO HEAD: West Brom’s last victory over today’s opposition came in the 2014/15 season, with Chelsea winning three and drawing one of the five contests since.
As well as facing each other when Chelsea sealed the title last season, the two sides met at Stamford Bridge where a late Diego Costa goal secured a 1-0 victory for Chelsea.
Chelsea are visiting The Hawthorns for the first time since Michy Batshuyai’s goal sealed the title for them last season. Anotnio Conte’s men have experienced a mixed start to the new campaign, however, with them already trailing Manchester City by nine points at the top of the table. Despite this, they have won three consecutive Premier League matches which included an impressive 1-0 victory over Manchester United last time out.
After winning their opening two matches of the season, West Brom are winless in the Premier League for nine games having drawn four and lost five. The most worrying aspect for the Baggies fans is that they have lost three matches in a row, which included a 1-0 defeat to Huddersfield last time out despite the Terriers having 10 men for 30 minutes of the contest.
Tony Pulis’ side desperately need a victory this afternoon, whilst Antonio Conte will hope his team can close the gap on table-topping Manchester City.
