Minute   Description
The referee's whistle is blown for the final time and the Hawthorns erupts with cries of joy. West Brom certainly were brilliant this evening and made Burnley look incredibly average, with Morrison, Phillips and, in particular, Rondon all causing the visitors' back line plenty of problems throughout. At the other end of the pitch, Sean Dyche's men failed to make much of an impact, with only Gudmundsson looking as if he had a chance of beating Foster. In the end, he was unable to, denying Burnley the opportunity to extend their unbeaten run to four games.
FULL-TIME: WEST BROMWICH ALBION 4-0 BURNLEY
90'+3 Evans goes close! The corner is swung into the middle of the penalty area and finds Dawson, who immediately knocks the ball over to the far post, where Evans is waiting. The defender sticks out his head and does well to make contact with the ball, but his glancing header ends up bouncing just wide of the goal.
90'+2 The resulting corner fails to result in a chance on goal for West Brom before falling to McClean on the edge of the Burnley box, but the midfielder's low strike ends up deflecting off the outstretched foot of Keane and out for another corner.
90'+1 Gardner almost makes it 5-0! The substitute picks up the ball in a great position 25 yards away from the Burnley goal and immediately fires a low shot towards the bottom left-hand corner of the net, but Heaton does well to get down quickly and tip the ball round the post.
90' The fourth official has indicated that there will be three minutes of added time.
89' Slightly sloppy play from West Brom over on the right flank allows Burnley to push forward on a quick counter-attack through Arfield, but the midfielder is far too slow in possession and by the time he tees up Boyd over on the left-hand side of the penalty area, the winger is a few yards offside.
87' It's all West Brom at the moment as they hold on to possession inside the Burnley half of the pitch. The visitors are understandably trying their hardest to avoid falling further behind as they wait for the final whistle to blow.
85' West Brom patiently pass the ball around inside the Burnley half of the pitch before McAuley picks out Nyom with an excellent cross-field pass. The full-back spins and picks out McClean, but the latter's cross is cut out by the first man before it can find Robson-Kanu in front of goal.
83' Morrison becomes the latest player to be serenaded off the pitch as he's replaced by Gardner.
82' Robson-Kanu goes close! Brunt picks up the ball in space deep down the left wing and immediately curls a lovely cross into the heart of the Burnley penalty area, but it ends up flying just past the outstretched foot of Robson-Kanu on the edge of the six-yard box. Any sort of contact surely would have resulted in a fifth goal for West Brom.
81' Lowton commits a clumsy challenge deep down the left flank and concedes a free-kick in a dangerous position not far outside of the penalty area, but Morrison's swinging cross from the set-piece fails to pick out a teammate and bounces harmessly over to the opposite wing.
79' Meanwhile, Burnley have brought on Boyd to take the place of Gudmundsson in their final alteration.
Rondon receives a standing ovation from the home fans as he's replaced by Robson-Kanu for the final 11 minutes of the game.
78' West Brom patiently hold on to the ball inside the Burnley half of the pitch before McClean swings a cross in from the left flank. It's only half cleared by Mee and bounces out to Brunt, who immediately unleashes a thumping half-volley that bounces a few yards wide of the far post.
77' The resulting corner fails to result in a chance on goal and allows West Brom to fly forward on a great counter-attack. Rondon charges into the Burnley half of the pitch before teeing up McClean, who then penetrates the box, but the substitute is unable to pick out Nyom over on the right-hand side of the penalty area and the visitors are just about able to survive.
76' Great save by Foster! Evans charges into Lowton and scythes the full-back to the ground with a poorly-timed sliding challenge, resulting in a free-kick for Burnley just outside of the penalty area. Gudmundsson steps up and unleashes a curling strike towards goal, but Foster does well to tip it on to the crossbar and out for a corner.
75' Phillips receives a rousing round of applause from the West Brom fans as he makes his way off the pitch to be replaced by McClean.
73' Almost a costly mistake by Foster! Lowton cuts inside from the left flank and picks out Gudmundsson in a pocket of space just outside of the penalty area. The Icelander takes a quick touch before shooting, and his curling strike is fumbled by the West Brom goalkeeper. However, Dawson is there to meet the ball and head it straight back into the hands of the home side's number one.
71' Phillips charges down the right wing and holds the ball up well before working the ball back to Fletcher. The midfielder pokes it over to Brunt and the midfielder quickly swings a great cross into the box, but Mee is able to get in front of Rondon to stop the Venezuelan from reaching the ball.
70' Burnley have made their second change of the night, with Vokes, who saw very little of the ball, making way for Gray.
68' After heading the ball away from danger, Rondon flies forward on a quick counter-attack. He breaks into the Burnley half of the pitch and heads down the left wing, but Arfield is there to bring his run to an end with a mistimed challenge that results in a free-kick for West Brom.
67' Gudmundsson muscles his way down the right wing and fires a low cross off Yacob and out for a corner. It's sent short before Gudmundsson whips a dangerous cross into the middle of the penalty area, where Rondon is just about able to deal with the danger before a Burnley player can get a shot away.
66' Barnes brings down the ball well on the edge of the West Brom box before firing a half-volley towards the top right-hand corner of the net, but it's poorly hit by the striker and Foster is able to watch the ball sail comfortably over the top of the crossbar.
64' Nyom did wonderfully well to tee up Rondon after showing good understanding with Morrison, but, once again, Burnley's back line were all at sea and failed to track a run that really should have been dealt with.
GOAL! West Brom have increased their lead! Morrison tees up Nyom with a lovely pass, and the full-back breaks into the left-hand side of the Burnley penalty area as he heads towards the byline. He then knocks the ball back to Rondon, who, with his back to goal, spins round Arfield and fires a low shot into the back of the net from close range.
63' West Brom win themselves a free-kick over on the right wing, and it's curled into a dangerous position inside the penalty area. It finds Dawson in front of goal and the full-back beats his marker before sending a header towards goal, but his effort isn't the best and ends up bouncing a few yards wide of the far post.
62' Barnes breaks into the left-hand side of the West Brom as he tries to latch on to a lofted pass forward, but he ends up tangling with Dawson and ends up giving away a free-kick, despite the striker trying to appeal for a penalty. It was certainly he who commited the foul, however, and the referee agrees.
61' Vital interception by Evans! Lowton cuts inside from the right wing and heads towards the penalty area on a great run before teeing up Barnes. The striker quickly pokes the ball back to right-back, who then tries to shoot, but Evans is there to deal with the danger with great closing down.
59' A cross-field pass from Arfield picks out Lowton, who is in a great position deep down the right flank. The full-back controls the ball quickly before curling a dangerous cross into the middle of the West Brom box, but it misses Vokes before being dealt with by Dawson at the far post.
57' Lowton commits a clumsy foul on the halfway line and presents West Brom with a chance to push forward on one of their first attacking moves of the half. Evans thumps the ball towards the penalty area and tries to pick out Morrison, but his lofted pass is overhit and sails out for a goal-kick.
55' Vokes rises high and meets the ball well before nodding it down to Barnes, who had made a good run down the right wing, but the latter's first touch is poor and, under pressure from Nyom, he ends up poking the ball out of play before he can swing a cross into the penalty area.
53' Arfield and Barnes link up well on the edge of the West Brom penalty area before the latter spins and flies into the left-hand side of the box. He heads towards the byline and then tries to pick out Vokes with a low cross, but Yacob sticks out a foot at the near post to stop the ball from reaching the striker.
51' Barnes is fouled by Yacob and Burnley are awarded a free-kick just inside the West Brom half of the pitch. It's easily dealt with by Nyom before the home side hit their opponents on yet another counter-attack, but this time a wayward cross-cum-shot from Rondon ends up trickling a few yards wide of the far post.
49' Barnes and Gudmundsson link up well deep down the right wing before the latter swings a dangerous cross into the West Brom box. It fails to find Vokes but ends up deflecting off McAuley and towards Barnes, who tries to unleash a shot but, under pressure, tamely knocks the ball into the hands of Foster.
47' West Brom quickly push forward down the right wing through Dawson, who does well to win the hosts a throw-in before receiving the ball and swinging a cross towards the near post. It finds Phillips in acres of space, but his headed effort ends up looping over the top of the crossbar.
46' Burnley have made one substitution during the half-time break, and it's an attacking one, with Defour making way for Barnes. It looks as if they may switch to a 4-4-2 formation as they try to find a way back into the game.
And we're underway once again!
The two teams are making their way back out on to the pitch ahead of the start of the second half.
I don't think anyone would have predicted that West Brom would be heading into the half-time break with a three-goal lead, but that's where they find themselves thanks to an excellent opening 45 minutes. The home side have been brilliant and have continually caused problems for their visitors, who have looked leaky at the back and far too passive in possession. Lowton has been particularly weak, whilst Keane has struggled to deal with the strength and power of Rondon in and around the penalty area.
HALF-TIME: WEST BROMWICH ALBION 3-0 BURNLEY
45'+2 Lowton gets himself into a good position over on the right flank before trying to tee up Vokes, who has barely seen any of the ball this evening. However, not for the first time, the full-back's cross is poor and sails straight into the hands of Foster.
45' The fourth official has indicated that there will be two minutes of added time.
44' Brunt and Phillips link up well midway inside the Burnley half of the pitch before the latter tries to power his way towards the penalty area, but Arfield sticks out a leg and does well to dispossess the winger before he's able to cause any more problems for Burnley.
43' Morrison loses out on the edge of the Burnley penalty area and Arfield quickly tries to kick-start a counter-attack for the visitors. He bursts forward on a marauding run and does well to penetrate the West Brom half of the pitch, but as soon as he does he's dispossessed by a strong tackle from Yacob.
41' Rondon, who has been causing plenty of problems for the Burnley back line thus far, once again gets his head to the ball before nodding it over to Morrison, but Heaton is just about able to dart out and deal with the danger before the midfielder can get a toe to the ball.
39' Rondon is fouled inside the West Brom half of the pitch and wins the home side a free-kick, which quickly results in a throw-in for the hosts. Slightly sloppy play gifts possession back to Burnley, however, but Lowton's cross from the right flank is poor and fails to find a teammate inside the box.
37' Once again, Phillips did wonderfully well to take advantage of poor defending by Burnley. Lowton was caught far up the pitch and left a gaping hole behind him that the Scottish winger was easily able to use to his advantage.
GOAL! More misery for Burnley! Another half-hearted attack from the visitors breaks down and West Brom break forward on another counter-attack. Phillips weaves his way into the box and takes on Lowton before chipping a beautiful cross over to the far post, where Fletcher is completely unmarked and easily able to tap the ball into the back of the net from close range.
36' Burnley seem to be tiring, leaving them looking bereft of ideas inside the West Brom half of the pitch. The visitors are failing to show the speed and urgency needed to cause problems for the home side, who time and time again have found it far too easy to hit their opponents on the counter when they win the ball back.
34' Rondon is barged to the ground by Marney and wins a free-kick for West Brom just inside the Burnley half of the pitch. Brunt steps up and chips a cross over to Dawson at the far post, but it fails to find the full-back and ends up bouncing out of play for a goal-kick.
32' Another great chance for Rondon! The striker links up well with Nyom before firing a curling strike towards the top right-hand corner of the net, but somehow Heaton is able to get his fingertips to the ball to tip the shot over the top of the crossbar and out for a corner.
30' Rondon goes close! A header from Evans is poorly dealt with by Lowton and allows Rondon to dart into the left-hand side of the penalty area before unleashing a rocket of a volley, but it ends up flying just a yard or so over the top of the crossbar after beating Heaton.
28' Rondon holds up the ball well deep down the right wing before spinning past two Burnley players and teeing up Morrison on the edge of the penalty area. The midfielder initially does well to control the ball but is put under pressure by Marney and ends up losing out to the Burnley man before he can spin and shoot.
26' Fletcher gets himself into a great position over on the right flank before quickly curling a wonderful cross into the middle of the Burnley penalty area. It looks set to find Rondon in front of goal, but Keane is just about able to beat the striker in the air before heading the ball away from danger at the vital moment.
24' A lovely cross is fired into the heart of the penalty area, but Rondon is there to deal with the danger before kick-starting a swift counter-attack. Morrison breaks down the left flank and links up with Phillips just outside of the penalty area, and the latter then penetrates the box before firing a chipped cross off Lowton. The West Brom players all appeal for a handball, but the referee isn't at all interested.
23' Burnley revert to patiently passing the ball around inside the West Brom half of the pitch before Gudmundsson eventually picks up possession deep down the right wing, but as soon as he receives the ball he's clattered into from behind by Nyom and wins his side another free-kick in a dangerous position.
21' Almost a costly mistake by Heaton! The Burnley goalkeeper is put under pressure by Rondon and ends up sending his attempted clearance straight to Morrison, who immediately powers forward. The midfielder charges towards the edge of the penalty area before trying to make it 3-0, but he's put under pressure by Hendrick at the vital moment and ends up sending his shot well wide of the goal.
19' West Brom cme back once again before Phillips picks up the ball in an advantageous position 25 yards away from goal. He's left in a pocket of space by the Burnley midway and decides to unleash a low shot, but it's scuffed slightly and fails to trouble Heaton at the near post.
18' West Brom quickly win the ball back from the restart and immediately break away down the right wing. Brunt gets himself into a good position midway inside the Burnley half of the pitch and tries to pick out Fletcher, who had made a smart run into the penalty area, but his pass is slightly overhit and fails to find the Scottish midfielder.
16' That was excellent centre-forward play by Rondon, who shrugged off Keane far too easily in the build-up. The centre-back really should have done better, but he was left exposed by his teammates, eight of whom were camped deep inside the West Brom half of the pitch.
GOAL! It's 2-0! A half-hearted Burnley attack breaks down and West Brom immediately hit them on the counter. Brunt blasts the ball forward from the edge of the hosts' penalty area and picks out Rondon, who easily out-muscles Keane before teeing up Morrison. The midfielder is completely unmarked and is able to sprint towards the box before firing a great low strike past the outstretched arm of Heaton and into the bottom right-hand corner of the net.
15' It's all Burnley at the moment as they continue putting pressure on West Brom, but they just can't seem to find a way through the home side, who have every available player back inside their own half of the pitch and are comfortably dealing with every their opponents throw at them.
13' What a chance for Hendrick! Marney picks up the ball midway down the right wing and immediately tries to skip past Morrison, but he's upended by the West Brom midfielder and wins his side a free-kick in a dangerous position. Defour steps up and picks out Mee, who links up well with Vokes before Hendrick tries to beat Foster from close range, but the goalkeeper does well to close down the angle and forces the midfielder into poking his volleyed shot just past the far post.
11' Burnley enjoy a good period of possession as they try to find a way through the sea of West Brom players camped in front of them, but no matter what they try to do, they just can't seem to get past the well-organised hosts. Defour sprays several passes from one flank to the other as he tries to carve out an opening, but each is well dealt with by the home side.
9' West Brom move the ball around nicely deep inside the Burnley half of the pitch before Dawson tries to pick out Rondon with a looping cross, but it's sent slightly too near to Heaton and, under pressure from the Venezuelan, the goalkeeper does well to cut out the danger.
7' Gudmundsson picks up a loose ball on the edge of the West Brom box and quickly tees up Lowton to his right. The full-back sends a deep cross over to the far post, where it finds Arfield, but the midfielder's bouncing cross-cum-shot fails to find a teammate and is easily dealt with by Foster.
5' West Brom almost double their lead! Burnley almost immediately lose the ball from the restart and allow Morrison to send in another cross from the right wing. Once again it isn't dealt with well by the Burnley back line and rolls out to Brunt, but his thumping strike ends up flying straight into the hands of Heaton.
4' GOAL! What a start by West Brom! Brunt is left completely unmarked down the right flank and is able to tee up Morrison, who immediately whips a cross into the heart of the penalty area. It should be easily dealt with by Marney but the midfielder ends up poking the ball straight to Phillips, who, on the edge of the six-yard box, spins and fires a rocket of a shot into the roof of the net.
2' Burnley quickly embark on an early attack through Gudmundsson over on the right flank. The Icelander darts down the wing before firing a low cross into the feet of Vokes in front of goal, but the striker is unable to beat Evans before the ball is thumped away by Nyom.
1' And we're off! Burnley get us underway, attacking from right to left.
The two sides are making their way out on to the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
Meanwhile, Burnley boss Sean Dyche has made just one alteration to the side that featured against Crystal Palace in their last outing, with Stephen Ward coming into the starting line-up to replace Jon Flanagan, who drops to the substitutes’ bench.
Tony Pulis has decided to name an unchanged West Brom side to the one that started the victory against Leicester before the international break, with Salomon Rondon once again leading the line after successfully recovering from a slight hamstring injury.
Burnley substitutes: Robinson, Flanagan, Tarkowski, Kightly, Boyd, Barnes, Gray.
Burnley XI (4-4-1-1): Heaton; Lowton, Keane, Mee, Ward; Gudmundsson, Marney, Defour, Arfield; Hendrick; Vokes.
West Bromwich Albion substitutes: Palmer, Galloway, Olsson, Gardner, McClean, Robson-Kanu, Leko.
West Bromwich Albion XI (4-2-3-1): Foster; Dawson, McAuley, Evans, Nyom; Fletcher, Yacob; Brunt, Morrison, Phillips; Rondon.
There’s just over 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this evening…
The corresponding fixture two seasons ago ended in a 4-0 win for West Brom thanks to a Saido Berahino double, but recent games between the two sides have proven to be tight and unpredictable affairs. Burnley have won three of the last seven contests but have traditionally struggled at the Hawthorns, where they haven’t tasted victory since 1969.
As for Burnley, they have looked far more comfortable and confident since making their return to the top tier, and that was evident in what has been an excellent month for Sean Dyche’s men. Victories against Everton and Crystal Palace came either side of a draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford, leaving them a point above West Brom and with a chance of lifting themselves into the top half of the table.
Only three points separate them and the relegation zone, however, so they will be well aware that there is no time for complacency, even at this early stage of the campaign. Another victory today will send them up into the top half of the table, setting them up perfectly for next weekend’s must-win game against struggling Hull City at the KCOM Stadium.
October proved to be a difficult one for West Brom, who, after only losing two of their opening six games of the season, went four games without a victory to send them down to 16th place. However, they managed to bounce back just before the international break with an impressive 2-1 win away to Leicester City and now sit in a far more comfortable 12th place.
Good evening and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Premier League game between West Bromwich Albion and Burnley at the Hawthorns.
