Season

Participation:
------------

96 teams have the right to participate in the competition:
- all 8 Eredivisie Women teams;
- all 12 Topklasse Women teams;
- all 26 Hoofdklasse Women teams;
- all 48 Eerste Klasse Women teams;
- 2 lower level teams.

The 8 Eredivisie teams enter the competition directly at the 8th Finals.


Group stage:
------------

Format:
88 teams are distributed into 22 groups of 4 teams each (Groups 1-22) on regional basis.
Each team in plays the others from its own group once - for a total of 3 games each, over 3 game weeks.

Scoring points:
3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss.

Table order:
1. points won; 2. total goal difference; 3. total goals scored; 4. play-off.

Qualification for the Knockout stage:
1-2 place of each group: qualify for the Knockout stage


Knockout stage:
------------

Format:
44 teams from Group stage and the 8 teams that enter the competition at this stage contest the Women's Cup winner in a knockout format.

Intermediate Round:
44 teams, 24 of them are drawn into 12 pairs, with the remaining 20 teams receiving a bye into the 1st Round.
The 22 teams, which finished 2nd in the Group stage, cannot receive a bye.
Winners are decided over one leg, with penalties if score is level after regular time.
Hosting is determined by the draw.

1st Round:
32 teams from the Intermediate Round are drawn into 16 pairs.
Winners are decided over one leg, with penalties if score is level after regular time.
Hosting is determined by the draw.

2nd Round:
16 teams from the 1st Round are drawn into 8 pairs.
Winners are decided over one leg, with penalties if score is level after regular time.
Hosting is determined by the draw.

8th Finals:
8 teams from the 2nd Round and the 8 teams that enter the competition at this stage are drawn into 8 pairs.
Teams are seeded into 2 pots as follows:
Pot 1: the 8 Eredivisie Women teams;
Pot 2: the other 8 teams.
Teams from Pot 1 are drawn against teams from Pot 2.
Winners are decided over one leg, with penalties if score is level after regular time.
Pot 2 teams are hosts.

Quarter-finals:
8 teams are drawn into 4 pairs.
Winners are decided over one leg, with penalties if score is level after regular time.
Hosting is determined by the draw.

Semi-finals:
4 teams are drawn into 2 pairs.
Winners are decided over one leg, with penalties if score is level after regular time.
Hosting is determined by the draw.

Final:
The two Semi-finals winners meet each other with the winner becoming the Women's Cup winner.
Winner is decided over one leg, with extra time and penalties if score is level after regular time.
The match is played at a venue, determined by the KNVB.
