Season

Regular Season:
------------

Format:
15 teams, divided into 1 group of 8 teams (Group A) and 1 group of 7 teams (Group B) by draw.
Each team plays against the other teams from its own group once - for a total of 7 games each (6 games each for Group B teams), over 7 game weeks.
Due to the limited number of stadiums in San Marino, each team is randomly assigned a "home stadium".

Scoring points:
3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss.

Table order:
1. points won; 2. points in head-to-head matches; 3. goal difference in hth matches; 4. goals scored in hth matches; 5. total goal difference; 6. total goals scored.

Qualification for 2nd Stage:
1-4 place of each group: qualify for 2nd Stage - Group 1
5-7 place of each group: qualify for 2nd Stage - Group 2
8 place of Group A: qualifies for 2nd Stage - Group 2

Relegation from the league:
no relegation from the league

Promotion to the league:
no promotion to the league


2nd Stage:
------------

Format:
15 teams from the Regular Season contest participation in the Final Stages in a league format.
Teams are distributed into 1 group of 8 teams (Group 1) and 1 group of 7 teams (Group 2) based on their Regular Season placing.
Within each group, teams meet each other twice - for a total of 14 games each (12 games each for Group 2 teams), over 14 game weeks.
Due to the limited number of stadiums in San Marino, each team is randomly assigned a "home stadium".

Scoring points:
3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss.

Table order:
1. points won; 2. points in head-to-head matches; 3. goal difference in hth matches; 4. goals scored in hth matches; 5. total goal difference; 6. total goals scored.

Qualification for Final Stages:
1-6 place of Group 1: qualify for the Final Stages
1-2 place of Group 2: qualify for the Final Stages


Final Stages:
------------

Format:
8 teams from the 2nd Stage contest the Campionato champion and places in UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League in a knockout format.
All matches from the Final Stages are played at a neutral venue, at the Stadio Olimpico di Serravalle in Serravalle.

Quarter-finals:
8 teams are distributed into 4 pairs according to their Regular Season standings:
1st in Group 1 vs 2nd in Group 2 (match 1);
2nd in Group 1 vs 1st in Group 2 (match 2);
3rd in Group 1 vs 6th in Group 1 (match 3);
4th in Group 1 vs 5th in Group 1 (match 4.)
Winners are decided over two legs.

Semi-finals:
4 teams are distributed into 2 pairs as follows:
winner match 1 vs winner match 4;
winner match 2 vs winner match 3.
Winners are decided over two legs.

Tie-breakers for the knockout matches over two legs:
1. aggregate score from the two legs, 2. higher 2nd Stage placing.

3rd Place Final:
The two Semi-finals losers meet to contest 3rd place.
Winner is decided over one leg, with extra time and penalties if score is level after regular time.

Final:
The two Semi-finals winners meet each other, with the winner becoming Campionato champion.
Winner is decided over one leg, with extra time and penalties if score is level after regular time.

Qualification for UEFA competitions:
champion: UEFA Champions League qualifiers
Final loser: possible UEFA Europa League qualifiers (depends on Coppa Titano outcome)
