Force look to rebound against Bulls

28 February 2013 06:40

The Force are a proud club and will be desperate to save face after losing to the Southern Kings last weekend.

VENUE & TIME: Loftus Versfeld, Pretoria, South Africa, Saturday March 2

HEAD TO HEAD: Played 6 – Bulls 3, Force 3

LAST TIME: April 23, 2011 (Perth) – Force 26-21 Bulls (round 10)

WALKING WOUNDED: The Bulls have lost Dewald Potgieter (knee), and Deon Stegmann (hamstring) to injuries suffered against the Stormers and are replaced by Jacques Potgieter and Arno Botha. A hip injury to JJ Engelbrecht sees Lionel Mapoe move from wing to outside centre, with Sampie Mastriet to make his debut on the right wing.

FORM: The Bulls made a bright start to their campaign with an upset 25-17 win over reigning South African conference champs the Stormers. The men from Pretoria conceded two-tries-to-one but super boot Morne Steyn kicked them to victory. The Force are already on the back foot after opening losses to the Rebels and competition new boys the Southern Kings. Michael Foley's side led 10-5 at the break but their inability to capitalise on their dominance in the opening half-hour came back to bite them as the Kings scored 17 unanswered points after the break for a famous 22-10 victory. Goal-kicking, the line-out and ill-discipline were all issues for the Force.

WHO'S HOT: Bulls playmaker Steyn beat the Stormers with his boot, kicking six penalties and a conversion for a 20-point haul while his general-play kicking was also excellent. No Force players made the cut for this illustrious section – maybe next week boys.

WE THINK: The Force are a proud club and will be desperate to save face after losing to the Southern Kings last weekend. Michael Foley's men will give maximum effort – they always do – but this is a major mismatch and the Bulls will win and win well in front of their intimidating home fans. Bulls by 20.
