Saracens secured top spot in Pool One of the Heineken Cup courtesy of a 40-7 triumph over Edinburgh on Sunday.

Two tries from England international Chris Ashton and singles from Matt Stevens, Charlie Hodgson and Chris Wyles saw the hosts run emerge comfortable winners at Vicarage Road.

Owen Farrell finished the match with 15 points courtesy of three conversions and three penalties, while beaten Edinburgh managed just one try in reply, scored by Greig Tonks and converted by Greig Laidlaw.

In the other Pool One match on Sunday, Munster saw off Racing Metro Paris 29-6 at home, with Simon Zebo claiming a hat-trick at Thomond Park.

Munster travel to face Harlequins in the quarter-finals after finishing second behind Saracens, who play host to Ulster in the last eight.

Elsewhere, Leicester Tigers squeezed past Toulouse 9-5 at home, with three Toby Flood penalties rendering Yohan Huget's try for the visitors irrelevant at Welford Road.

Leicester's win saw them take top spot in Pool Two and earn an away tie at Toulon, while second-placed Toulouse were eliminated from the competition.

Bottom side Treviso signed off with a 17-14 win at home to third-placed Ospreys.
