Quins win six straight

19 January 2013 00:58

Harlequins won their sixth Heineken Cup match in a row with a 16-9 triumph over Biarritz on Friday while Connacht also triumphed.

Harlequins entered the clash knowing they had topped Pool Three and had qualified for the quarter-finals but they maintained their momentum with a terrific win in wet French conditions.

Nick Evans and Dimitri Yachvili traded penalties for the two sides in the early stages before Tom Guest's first-half try helped the winners to a 10-3 lead at the main break.

Biarritz got within one point in the second half as Yachvili kicked two more penalties but Harlequins stood firm, withstanding the challenge of their opponents.

Evans was the man responsible for kicking Harlequins clear, with his two penalties helping the English side to yet another win.

Also in Pool Three, Connacht defeated Zebre 25-20 in Galway.

The kicking of Dan Parks (one conversion, four penalties and two drop goals) was crucial for the winners, who also scored a penalty try.

Zebre's Ruggero Trevisan bagged a try and Daniel Halangahu added five penalties for Zebre but it was not enough as Connacht came from behind to record victory.
