8 December 2012 21:40

Harlequins preserved their 100 percent record in the Heineken Cup on Saturday by thumping Zebre, while Jonny Wilkinson starred for Toulon.

Sam Smith crossed over for two first-half tries against the Italian outfit as the Aviva Premiership pacesetters opened up a 17-7 lead at half-time.

Nick Easter, Matt Hopper, Rob Buchanan, Ben Botica and a penalty try added further gloss to the 57-14 scoreline as Harlequins made it three wins from three in Pool 3 and edged towards a playoff berth.

Meanwhile, Toulon overcame a gallant Sale Sharks outfit 17-6 to maintain their unbeaten streak in Pool 6.

David Smith scored the only try of the match, while Englishman Jonny Wilkinson was destructive with his boot, kicking four penalties.

Toulouse joined Harlequins, Toulon and Ulster as the only undefeated teams in the competition by overpowering Ospreys 30-14.

The four-time Heineken Cup champions were dominant from the start and never looked back as they outscored their Pool 2 opponents five tries to two.

French number eight Louis Picamoles starred for Toulouse, setting up his side's opening two tries, while Florian Fritz, Yannick Nyanga, Vincent Clerc, Census Johnston and Yoann Huget all crossed over.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Munster moved level on points with Saracens thanks to a 15-9 victory.

Munster led 9-3 at the half-time break and held on for maximum points thanks to Ronan O'Gara, who kicked all of the Irish outfit's points.

Both teams are locked on 10 points after three games, while Racing Metro inflicted yet another defeat on hapless Edinburgh, winning 19-9 in Paris.

Meanwhile in Pool 5, Exeter Chiefs enjoyed a memorable night, overcoming Scarlets 22-16 for their first-ever victory in the Heineken Cup.
