Crocs stun Breakers in first semi

The Townsville Crocodiles defeated reigning champions New Zealand Breakers 99-82 to take a shock 1-0 lead in their NBL semi-final series.

Veteran guards Peter Crawford (26 points, 9/13 field goals, four rebounds) and Eddie Gill (21 points, 7/10 field goals, four steals) were outstanding for Townsville, making big shots whenever the Breakers threatened.

They were not alone, as big men Elvin Mims (13 points), Jacob Holmes (12 points, 9 rebounds, four assists) and Luke Schenscher (nine points, six rebounds, six assists) also made big contributions.

For New Zealand, only Tom Abercrombie (20 points, five rebounds, five assists) and Gary Wilkinson (19 points) lived up to expectations.

The Crocs now have the claim the best-of-three series and advance to their first Grand Final appearance since 2001 when they host the Breakers on Thursday.
