Melzer downs Raonic for Memphis title

27 February 2012 01:23

Austria's Juergen Melzer won the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships in Memphis on Sunday.

Melzer needed just 97 minutes to claim a fourth ATP Tour title of his career, defeating Canadian Milos Raonic 7-5 7-6 (7-4).

Raonic proved no push over though, hitting 22 aces and winning 87 percent of points on his first serve.

That gave Melzer only three break point opportunities throughout the match, but he capitalised on two of them while losing only one of his service games.

That was enough for Melzer to win his first tournament since triumphing in Vienna in October 2010.
