25 February 2012 22:30

Leicester ran in six tries to crush Newcastle 42-15 in the Aviva Premiership on Saturday.

The Tigers had the game wrapped up by half-time after Julian Slavi, Billy Twelvetrees and Horacio Agulla crossed to give them a 23-3 lead at the break.

A pair of second-half tries to Thomas Waldrom and another from Niall Morris sealed the convincing win at Welford Road.

Jon Golding and Richard Mayhew bagged late tries for Newcastle but it mattered little as the Tigers notched a convincing win.

In other matches, Gloucester defeated Harlequins 29-23 with Charlie Sharples, Jonny May and Akapusi Qera all crossing for the winners.

And Bath edged Exeter 12-9 thanks to the efforts of Tom Heathcote who kicked four penalties.
