Mihajlovic unhappy with Fiorentina boo-boys

23 October 2011 10:15

Stevan Jovetic gave Fiorentina the lead twice at Stadio Artemio Franchio, but it was squandered on both occasions as the visiting Sicilian club fought back through Gennaro Delvecchio and Maxi Lopez to earn a point.

Boos from the home fans were audible and discontent visible, and Mihajlovic revealed he felt let down by those who he normally expects to back his side.

"The boos and jeers? Fiorentina fans expect and this is a club that demands success. Had we won, we would have been a point off the top," Mihajlovic told Sky Sport Italia.

"There is still plenty to go throughout the season and so I think the criticism was excessive and unjust."

"However, we are tranquil and will continue to do our jobs."

"If people feel the need to criticise me then they can, but I ask the fans to leave the players in peace so they can focus on playing."

One man who is not criticising the coach is owner Andrea Della Valle.

The Fiorentina patron said the result could have been better, but insisted the coach's position was not under any threat.

"I am angry and disappointed (with the result). The coach and team are not happy. But, Mihajlovic is not in discussion," Della Valle said.

"Now the focus must turn towards our match with Juventus (on Tuesday)."
