Perez thrilled to learn from Button

12 February 2013 16:04

Sergio Perez has labelled himself 'very lucky' to be able to work alongside Jenson Button at McLaren ahead of the 2013 Formula One season.

Having worked alongside Button for the first time at Jerez for the opening F1 testing week of the year, Perez, who joined McLaren from Sauber at the end of last season, believes he has already learnt a lot from his British team-mate.

Button, who is 10 years Perez's senior, was described by the 23-year-old Brazilian as a 'champion' during an interview with ESPN.

"I'm very lucky driver to have a champion next to me as well as such a good guy," Perez said.

"We are working so well together and I've been learning so much from him in my short (McLaren) career.

"Definitely the pressure is there, the team expects a lot from me and I expect the same.

"I want to go out there and win the championship and fight everybody.

"I will work together with Jenson to learn a lot from him and I think we are doing very well."
