Hamilton aiming high with Mercedes

23 January 2013 01:46

Lewis Hamilton insists winning the Formula One drivers title is not impossible in his first season at Mercedes.

Hamilton, who won the Championship in 2008 with former team McLaren, thinks he can end Sebastian Vettel's dominance, despite joining a team that finished fifth in last season's constructors' championship.

"I live to win, that's what I work towards every year. So, that's what we are going to be working towards this year," Hamilton said.

"I mean, of course, it's going to be tough to compete with, to beat the guys that are already at the front, like the Red Bulls, and the Ferraris, and the McLarens but I don't think it's impossible."

Hamilton has been enjoying getting to know his new team, and he is impressed by the work ethic shown at the outfit's Stuttgart headquarters.

"It was great to see how enthusiastic everyone was," he said.

"It looked like there was incredible determination to turn this around. That gave me a lot of motivation for my winter."

The 2013 Formula One season will get underway in Melbourne with the Australian Grand Prix on March 17.
