Predators top scorer Johansen sidelined after emergency surgery

20 May 2017 01:06

The Nashville Predators will have to continue their best-ever run in the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs without their top scorer.

Ryan Johansen underwent emergency surgery after suffering a left thigh injury in Thursday's 3-2 overtime-loss against Anaheim Ducks, the Predators announced.

The 24-year-old is expected to be sidelined for two to three months.

Johansen has 13 points (three goals, 10 assists) in 14 playoff games during Nashville's first run to the Western Conference finals.

He had 61 points (14 goals, 47 assists) during the regular season while playing in all 82 games.

In fact, Johansen has not missed a game since being traded to Nashville in January 2016 in a deal that sent Seth Jones to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Predators and Ducks are tied 2-2 with game five set for Saturday in Anaheim.
