Stars topple Ducks for third straight win

9 February 2013 05:45

The Dallas Stars notched their third consecutive victory with a 3-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks in the only NHL match on Friday.

Trevor Daley and Jamie Benn both scored power-play goals to give the Stars a two-goal lead after the first period.

Nick Bonino reduced the deficit with a goal in the closing stages of the second period, but Loui Eriksson sealed the result seven minutes from time with a well-taken wrist shot after a superb pass from Alex Goligoski.

Goligoski and Derek Roy both finished the game with two assists, while Kari Lehtonen made sure of the victory with 20 saves for the Stars in a solid performance.

The victory lifts Dallas up to sixth place in the Western Conference, while the Ducks remain in second place despite their four-match winning streak coming to an end.
