Blackhawks beat Flames in shootout

The Chicago Blackhawks bounced back from two consecutive shootout losses with their first shootout win of the season on Saturday.

The Blackhawks, beaten in shootouts by the Minnesota Wild and Vancouver Canucks this week, came from behind to defeat the Calgary Flames 2-1.

Ray Emery made 45 saves in regulation and stopped all three shootout attempts for the Blackhawks, while Patrick Kane scored in regulation and added the shootout winner.

Earlier, Jay Bouwmeester netted a tiebreaking goal for Calgary with 34.2 seconds to go in the third period before Marian Hossa struck with 3.1 seconds left to force overtime.

Meanwhile, the Nashville Predators ended the San Jose Sharks' season-opening seven-game winning streak with a 2-1 shootout victory.

The Colorado Avalanche posted their third consecutive home win after beating the Edmonton Oilers 3-1.

The Pittsburgh Penguins snapped a season-opening two-game home losing streak with a convincing 5-1 win over the New Jersey Devils.

Elsewhere, the Montreal Canadiens earned their fourth straight home win after thumping the Buffalo Sabres 6-1.

Nick Bonino scored his first career hat-trick as the Anaheim Ducks routed the struggling Los Angeles Kings 7-4.

Tuukka Rask made 21 saves for his 12th career shutout as the Boston Bruins clinched a 1-0 victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Philadelphia Flyers ended a three-game losing streak with a 5-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Two goals from Artem Anisimov guided the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 4-2 win against the Detroit Red Wings.

The New York Rangers halted the Tampa Bay Lightning's five-game winning streak with a 3-2 victory.

Finally, Mike Smith made 17 saves as the Phoenix Coyotes posted a convincing 2-0 win over the Dallas Stars.
