Back problem not an undue concern for Wade

16 February 2017 11:11

Matthew Wade remains positive that an ongoing back injury will not hinder him during Australia's gruelling Test series in India.

The wicketkeeper-batsman was forced out of the recent one-day internationals against New Zealand, but is now in Dubai as Australia prepare to face the number-one ranked side over four Tests.

Wade's recurring problem has raised fears in some quarters that he would be unable to complete the tour, but the man himself remains unfazed by the issue of a bulging disc.

"It's just something that I'll have to manage," he said. "Obviously the scheduling and then getting off a plane [in New Zealand], it just went on me.

"The disc just bulged a little bit but it just hit one of the nerves, so it took a little while to come right.

"I've done the same thing before in other tours and it usually comes right overnight but this one took a little bit longer, so it's just something I have to keep on top of.

"I've done it before, touch wood it doesn't happen again but if it does I'm confident that I can turn it around pretty quick."
