Overlooked Harbhajan still behind India

22 January 2013 18:01

Harbhajan Singh has backed India ahead of their fourth one-day international with England in Mohali despite not being picked to play.

After a Test series loss followed by defeat in the first ODI, India have bounced back with two emphatic victories, putting them in prime position to secure victory in the limited-overs series

Off-spinner Harbhajan has not featured in a ODI for India since June 2011, but wished the team well ahead of Wednesday's match.

"India are playing really well. I just want to wish them the best of luck," he said.

The 32-year-old said he hopes to develop more academies in India, following the success of the Harbhajan Singh Institute of Cricket in Jalandhar.

"I'm planning to open another academy in Bombay, and in a couple of other places which have not been finalised yet," he said.

"I've got a lot of plans to do something for the kids and for the game. This game has given me everything, and it's probably the right time for me to give something back to the game, so I'm trying my best to achieve that aim. It's very important."
