Guangdong cruise in playoffs opener

Guangdong have taken their regular-season form into the CBA playoffs, recording a resounding 104-89 win over Zhejiang on Wednesday.

The result gives Guangdong a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five quarter-final series.

Hosts Zheijang started brightly, matching their top-ranked opponents in the early exchanges.

But Guangdong, who have only lost four matches all season, soon began to impose their superiority and took a 57-37 lead into half-time.

The second half continued as the first, with Guangdong imposing themselves all over the court before seeing out the comfortable victory.

Game two takes place on Friday.

Guangdong are aiming to equal Bayi Rockets' record with an eighth CBA title this season.
