Davis thrilled with Rising Stars win

16 February 2013 09:51

New Orleans Hornets forward Anthony Davis was delighted to see Team Chuck storm to victory in the NBA Rising Stars game on Friday.

Team Chuck, selected by former Philadelphia 76ers star and television analyst Charles Barkley, scored 90 first-half points and never looked back against Shaquille O'Neal's Team Shaq en route to a convincing 163-135 win at Toyota Center.

Kenneth Faried, playing for Team Chuck, top-scored with 40 points and 10 rebounds to claim the Most Valuable Player award.

Despite the friendly nature of the exhibition outing, Davis was still satisfied to end up on the winning team.

"There was a lot of celebrities out there," he said.

"A lot of your family and friends are out there supporting you. It was fun. As I predicted, Team Chuck was going to win. We destroyed those players. We've seen some of these guys ready for the battle. So it was definitely fun and exciting."

Team Shaq's Tyler Zeller said the experience of taking part in the showcase, played in a good spirit and finishing with a dunk contest, diffused any disappointment of defeat.

"It's a great experience," the Cleveland Cavaliers man said.

"It's something you watch on TV all of the time growing up, so just being able to see behind the scenes of it was definitely fun and exciting."

Orlando Magic's Andrew Nicholson echoed the sentiments of his beaten Team Shaq colleague.

"It's a privilege to be able to come to an event like this and be a part of it," he said.

"It's definitely something that I will remember for a very long time."
