James excited for All-Star game

16 February 2013 07:17

Miami Heat star LeBron James has spoken of his excitement ahead of the eagerly anticipated NBA All-Star match on Sunday.

James, 28, will be making his 13th All-Star appearance, having not missed selection since his debut in 2005.

The in-form forward could be set to claim his fourth All-Star MVP award, to add to his wins in 2009, 2010 and 2012.

"I have always come here with the same mental aspect of how excited I am about the All-Star weekend," James said.

"It's an unbelievable weekend for all of us to come together for our fans and to be around my peers, from the West Conference or East Conference, it's just a great weekend."

When asked what he was most looking forward to, he said: "I don't know. There is so much going on during the weekend."

However, James said he is disappointed with a lack of star power and innovation in the traditional dunk contest.

"I think the dunk contest has always been one of the greatest and best events that we have on the Saturday, but back in the day we had all the best players in it," he said.

"It's different now, the dunks are all gone. I haven't seen a dunk that I haven't seen before. Back in the day you would see Michael Jordan and others, you had some really good guys in there but it's not the same anymore."
