Wildcats edge Crocs, Taipans win

25 January 2013 14:34

The Perth Wildcats scraped past the Townsville Crocodiles 62-59 in a gripping contest in the NBL on Friday.

The Wildcats managed to shoot just 32 percent from the field but rallied from as many as 10 points down in the third quarter with Matt Knight (15 points) hitting a clutch three-pointer to seal an unlikely victory at Perth Arena.

The win sees the Wildcats move to 13-4 for the season and will fill them with confidence as they prepare to face the league-leading New Zealand Breakers on Thursday.

In the day's other match, the Cairns Taipans climbed off the bottom of the NBL ladder with an 85-71 win over the Melbourne Tigers at the Cairns Convention Centre.

American import Jamar Wilson starred with 19 points as the resurgent Taipans moved above the Adelaide 36ers to reach seventh place with a 6-11 record.
