10 December 2012 00:30

Real Madrid triumphed in Liga ACB's Madrid derby with Asefa Estudiantes on Sunday, winning 87-74.

Real went into the encounter unbeaten in their opening 10 fixtures, while Asefa had not enjoyed as much success with only six wins, but certainly showed their fighting spirit.

Canadian Carl Ingles scored two points for the home side, to bring the score-line to 6-8 before a three pointer from Jayson Granger put Asefa 14-8 ahead.

Real began to take control as Sergio Rodriguez sunk three-point shot to help the away team to a four-point lead - he was to finish with nine points for the match.

Real only scored two more than Asefa in the third, but three pointers from Slovenian Mirza Begic helped them stretch their lead to 13 points.

Tariq Kirksay's jump-shot was simply a consolation for Asefa as Real preserved their perfect start to the season.

Meanwhile, Caja Laboral edged Murcia 87-83 to move into second position in the standings, Gran Canaria eased past Lagun Aro 94-72 and Unicaja fell to a 76-70 defeat at the hands of Xacobeo Blusens.
