McGrady gets angry in Eagles´ loss

9 December 2012 22:06

Qingdao Eagles' miserable season continued as they suffered a 114-102 defeat at the hands of defending champions the Beijing Ducks.

The Eagles, who were looking to end their run of six successive defeats in the Chinese Basketball Association League, established an early lead thanks to former NBA All-Star Tracy McGrady.

McGrady's three-point shot at the end of the first quarter helped Qingdao take a 22-17 lead.

The game remained tight but in the closing stages of the second term, Beijing started to flex their muscles and pull away.

Randolph Morris, a former forward for the New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks, sunk a three-point shot to help the Ducks open up 47-45 lead approaching half-time and they extended that lead to 10 points at break.

McGrady was clearly angered by the poor performance of his team-mates and lashed out at an opposition player early in the third quarter.

After Ji Zhe hit a three-point shot for Beijing to create a 92-70 advantage, McGrady appeared to apply an elbow to the face of the Chinese player.

Officials failed to remove McGrady from the game but video evidence proved conclusive, however, it did not matter as reigning champions Beijing secured the convincing victory.

The Ducks are joint second with a 5-1 record, while Qingdao have lost all of their opening seven games.
