Jackson thrilled with Warriors´ spirit

8 December 2012 14:53

Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson has praised the character of his team after they beat the Brooklyn Nets away from home on Friday.

David Lee had 30 points and 15 rebounds, while Stephen Curry chipped in with 28 points as the Warriors clinched a 109-102 victory in Brooklyn.

Jackson, who attended high school a short walk from the site of Brooklyn's Barclays Center, was full of praise after his charges improved to a 12-7 record.

"For us, we take it one game at a time and this was a huge, huge win," he said.

"I am so proud of my guys. Stephen Curry is really showing the world just how good he is, and David Lee was spectacular again.

"We are a young, energetic, enthusiastic group that really embrace one another and appreciate the experience of playing on this team at this time."

On visiting the Barclays Center for the first time, Jackson added: "For me, it was great.

"Looking up in the stands and seeing my mother, it is an incredible blessing for her to be here.

"Looking up and seeing my sister, my niece, who is playing college basketball. Is it good to be home and it is even better to move out of here with a victory."

Jackson said the NBA is only now seeing the potential of Curry after the point guard returned to full fitness.

"I will take him matching up against any point guard in the league, and that is with total respect for Deron Williams and some other guys," Jackson added.

"But Stephen Curry is in that class. He shoots the ball as well as anybody that has ever played.

"For the first time in a long time he is healthy, and I think people forgot just how good he is.

"I am really proud and happy because it's a 'W' for the good guy, he is a heck of a man."
