Panko leads Greek charge in Euroleague

Panathinaikos moved joint top of Group A in the Euroleague with a steely 69-55 win over Turkish side Fenerbahce on Friday.

The Greek side were near flawless in defence and were led by Andy Panko with 15 points in Athens.

The home side took control of the contest in the second quarter with an 8-0 run in a low-scoring affair to lead 28-23 lead at half-time.

The win improves Panathinaikos' record to 6-3 while Fenerbahce have four wins and five losses.

Caja Laboral got its final 16 hopes back on track with an impressive 91-76 win on the road against Anadolu Efes in Istanbul.

Maciej Lampe shone with 17 points and seven rebounds for the victors, who ensured the final spot in the last 16 in Group C will not be handed out until next week's round of fixtures.

Zalgiris Kaunas held on to top spot in Group C with a last-gasp 67-75 win over EA7 Emporio Armani Milan in Italy.

Already knocked out, Olimpija Ljubljana pleased the crowd in the Slovenian capital with a thrilling 74-72 win over BC Khimki Moscow in their final home game.

In other results, Blake Schilb hit 28 points for Elan Chalon-Sur-Saone in a 108-103 win over Montepaschi Siena and Lietuvos Rytas edged Brose Baskets 67-62.
