All charges against Revis dismissed

16 March 2017 02:22

A judge has dismissed all the charges pending against Darrelle Revis, which included four felonies.

The former New York Jets cornerback will be leaving Pittsburgh a free man after judge Jeffrey Manning cleared him of two counts of felony assault, single counts each of robbery and conspiracy, both felonies, and making terroristic threats, a misdemeanour.

Revis was arrested on February 16 in Pittsburgh after two men claimed he punched them into unconsciousness and threw one of their cellphones in the street when they followed him and tried recording him.

Revis countered he was acting in self defense, and his friend Rashawn Bolton testified it was he who threw the punches.

Now that Revis has been cleared, his next step is finding a new home.

The Jets released him shortly after the arrest, though coach Todd Bowles said the incident had nothing to do with the team's decision to let Revis go and was instead related to saving $9million in cap space.

For now, Revis remains a free agent.

Once considered the best cornerback in the league, the 31-year-old is coming off the worst season of his career.
